RE: Old Dominion
My greatest concern is that with a team that seriously struggles to score and, after next year, will be very short on experience(we lose the bulk of our "contributors"), we seem to be recruiting defensive guys...

I keep hearing "defense travels". But offense needs to at least make the trip. Scoring 50 points a game isn't gonna cut it.

That's a good point. Scoring that low allows weak opponents to hang around. More tight games mean more chances to get beat by those teams. We are an ugly team to watch even when winning. And yes that matters. Dont believe it, look at our crowds at Bartow.

With the lack of offense it is even more amazing that we haven't been clobbered in some of these tough games.

Not really when you just bleed clock all game. Glad we keep it close vs Charlotte and odu though

Kind of hard to call it clock bleeding when it is a 30 second clock.

Let's just call it failure to develop an offensive play in a timely manner.

RE: Old Dominion
What concerns me the most is that the team panics when it gets late and the opponent makes a small run. Rather than continue with the game plan they tend to start jacking up 3's and other wild shots. To date, Coach Eshan hasn't shown an ability to call a timeout to put a plug in that.

I won't even get into the pathetic free throw shooting, since Eshan is on record as not giving a bleep about that.

Haase likewise didn't seem to care about calling timeouts. Seemed to have brought that over from the North Carolina program.

The point of calling a time out is usually to try to put a plan into action that the guys can execute to get an advantage on the court. I guess if our coach ( past and present?) cant come up with something to tell the players to do in pressure situations, then we are in deep poo.

The elder Coach Bartow was the best at it. Anderson wasn't too bad either.

Marsh under Davis was pretty good as well.

The former and present seem to have issues.

From the UNC school of letting the players work through it. But, if they can't you have to have something to say - and before its too late.
