He's been at TXST way too long. Like, 18 years too long.
Every school has had like 3 ADs in the time we've been stuck with Teis. Please LT, resign.
We got rid of our 17 year guy right before we moved up.

Can the UL and Troy fans give us some insight on Scott Farmer and what he was like when he was there? I know he's a GS alum and spent some time working for us early on as well. As with any hire that we have, anyone with even a remote connection to GS comes up immediately as a "can't miss hire" and our fans think they are the only legitimate option. I've seen the media guide version of what he's done, but wanted a fans perspective. If he's good, why is he at a small school no one has ever heard of now?

Guy raised funds for one of the nicest locker rooms and baseball stadiums in the entire G5 beats the pants off of the majority of P5's. He just got caught in a bad situation with Hudspeth and was the scapegoat.

From what I read on RP Cajun fans also feel they should've moved onto CUSA but instead are stuck in the Sun Belt with move-ups. Of course COOSA was more interested in "marketz" than getting programs with fan support so it wouldn't have mattered who the AD was.

A lot of people were mad at his statement that we could achieve all our goals in the sunbelt .. which is true.
He was also a lot more of a people person who would regularly hang out with fans on the weekend at local watering holes. You saw the difference that made we avegred 27k fans during his watch, whereas we won 11 games this year and only averaged 19k.

RE: Ga Southern AD Resigns
I think he was pretty good. He was Associate AD around the time I became a Troy fan in 2000. There may be other Troy fans that are more familiar with his accomplishments though. Johnny Williams, the current Executive Director of the Camellia Bowl, was our AD during that time.
I will say, while Farmer and Williams were at Troy, we saw the following things:
- Troy moved up from 1AA to 1A.
- Major stadium renovations with football, basketball, baseball, and soccer, as well as a new 12-court tennis center.
- Troy receive an invite to the Sun Belt Conference after being Independent.
- Scheduled a P5 home game against Missouri to be played in just our second year of being in 1A (2004).
- Worked hard to get Troy into an at-large bowl in 2004, which led to Troy becoming the first Sun Belt team to make it to a bowl game that wasn't affiliated with the Sun Belt (2004 Silicon Valley Classic Bowl). We got the bid over La Tech and Akron.

I was furious when Scott was let go. A real dreamer with can do attitude. Major national connections and he was really a straight shooter with donors. Especially on capital improvement fund raisers. Firm handshake too.

Am I wrong or is it rare that an AD gets decent reviews from two previous stints? Sounds like a no brainer. I fully expect he’ll not even get a call.

RE: Ga Southern AD Resigns
Well I would take some of the above comments about Scott Farmer with a grain of salt. I think a few of the guys may be pulling your chain a little.
My comments: He did do some good things, but at the end he did not seem ready to move UL forward. He would have been fine with the status quo, but I do not think he had the same long term vision that the administration and the RCAF did for athletics going forward. It seemed he wanted to rest on his laurels.

I think its fair to say he was decent AD. good things happened under him. I heard someone say that he grew the job until it got too big for him. then it was time to move on.

I feel like everybody tends to like the AD for a while, then eventually fans/alumni end up turning on him.
TK did a good job while he was here. Some people seem to forget that the AD does a lot more than just hire head football coaches.

Yeah, he was brought in to help with the FBS transition, and overall he did a great job. He rubbed some people the wrong way along the journey, but that's going to happen when you make major changes like we did.
He mismanaged the football coaches (Wouldn't give Monken more money for assistants after beating Florida, didn't get Fritz an extension after going 8-0 in conference play in our first FBS year, causing both to leave), and obviously botched the Summers hire pretty bad.
He had a safe hire with Chad, which most people like, but jury is still out on his offensive staff.
I'm pretty sure both parties saw this as a 5 year transition job for us and him, and I think he would have left sooner if he didn't have so much turnover with football hires.
Best of luck to him. I just hope we hire a great AD. These early years in FBS are critical to long term success.

I was referring to Scott Farmer time as AD at Louisiana. I dont doubt same could be said for your former AD as well.

Monken wasn't staying no matter what we were going to pay the assistants. His dream job has always been a service academy. Nothing TK could have done would have kept him her.
Even with Fritz, we couldn't match what Tulane was paying. Even if we did sign him to an extension, I think he was still gone.
