He may not want a statue at UAB. Probably afraid it'll make him look like he was mauled by a mountain lion, like Bartow's statue make it look like he got attacked by a shark.

Hey I,m a Blazer fan, But, If they offer 4mill a year, and The Blazers are paying 1Mill year, I would rather Take 4 mill a year for three years rather then then 1 Mill It would take two years two catch that kind of money, Plus Coach is getting kinda of costly for the Blazers, Time to bring Bryan Ellis or such back at 750K a year. Catch the Drift.

State is not going to pay 4 million a year to a coach that has never won a P-5 game. It's not going to happen.

Bryan Ellis is making $225,000 a year at WKU. Interesting that you mentioned him. I was told by another coach that Bryan would be a coaching star one day. He may not be ready now, but he has definitely learned a lot from some former UAB coaches!

RE: Mississippi State just opened
I am a huge Bill Clark fan, and so grateful for what he has done for our program, but I wonder why people keep bringing his name up for P5 jobs? In reality, he is not that “hot” these days.
His team lost its bowl game, by two touchdowns.
His team got embarrassed in its conference championship game.
His team beat one team with a winning record this season, and had it not been for a historically bad schedule (the worst in the country), very well may have had a losing record this year.
His team got blown out by the only P5 team it played this year, just as it has the past two seasons.
His team was not ranked among the top 30 G5schools by season’s end. Which means there are literally dozens of schools at our level (in better conferences) that had better seasons than us and would probably be more attractive to P5 programs. That includes several that were ranked in the Top 25 and won their bowl games. Yes, I know some of them already moved up to P5 jobs, but there are still lots of good coaches that would probably be ahead of Clark at this point.
His team did not sign any significant recruits in the early signing period or go head-to-head with any P5 schools and beat them for a player. Clark has certainly shown an ability to find diamonds in the rough and under the radar players, but he hasn’t recruited on the P5 level, even as an assistant.
I just think at this point an AD or president would have a tough time convincing his money people to pony up for Clark, especially if they watched us in games like Tennessee, Southern Miss or Florida Atlantic.
I am glad we have him, and mean no disrespect to him. And if we turn the corner next year and move into that next level where we are in or around the Top 25, I would look for someone to maybe come after him. But I would be shocked if someone did at this point.

Yes. Bill Clark is overrated. Any other school would be foolish to offer him millions to coach there.
It's Mark Ingram I'm worried about. He single-handedly brought about The Return, under the visionary leadership of Ray Watts. His interpersonal and management skills are highly underrated; he's an undiscovered diamond in the rough. I sure hope no one notices and hires him away. It would be a disaster for UAB athletics.
We should all be worried about losing Mark Ingram. Without him, where would we be?

I am not worried about losing Coach Clark to another school, because he has us positioned very well for success . UAB would be able to attract several very good HC's. The scary part, would Ingram be able to identify any of them???

For the love of God, please don't hire Mark Ingram away. He carries Bill Clark.
UAB would be doomed without Ingram. He is probably too expensive to hire but I hope no bigger school overbids for him.

I don't recall any coach staying there for a career retirement after a stint of many years in Starkville.
what about Jackie Sherrill?
I thought he had a career there.
Sherrill retreated to Miss State after being fired at Texas A&M. To tell the truth, the only memory I have of his time at State was the outcry when he castrated a bull in front of his team. I suppose it did get their attention.

Judge became the front-runner after Napier turned them down. Grantham was high on the list too.....not sure why though.

Joe Judge to the Giants.
Baylor opened up with Matt Rhule heading to the Panthers for what may be $60-$70 million.

There are reports that Mike Leach has interviewed for the MS State opening.
