Soooooo...the NYT ran this opinion piece yesterday, with this oddly specific paragraph in it. Trying to tip someone?

Quote:Moreover, hypersonics are a weaponized moral hazard for states with a taste for intervention, because they erase barriers to picking fights. Is an adversary building something that might be a weapons factory? Is there an individual in an unfriendly country who cannot be apprehended? What if the former commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, Qassim Suleimani, visits Baghdad for a meeting and you know the address? The temptations to use hypersonic missiles will be many.

He didn’t think Trump could do anything... he thought wrong.

My question is; If he can move freely throughout Iraq, does that mean all of our blood and treasure expended has been for naught?
He thought he was moving freely through Iraq...

I guess he found out the explosive way there's a new sheriff in town that doesn't bend over and bow when provoked.

No tears shed for him, but holding back a few for my step-son who just left for a 9-month+ deployment overseas in the Naval Reserves.

Any prayers for him and his wife and three young sons...as well as my wife are appreciated.

He was the point man in turning the tide in Syria for their team and now was on the ground working on Iraq.

We just permanently took the most important piece of Iran’s military/political complex off of the game board.

Yes we did, but that isn't the takeaway message.

The takeaway for the Iranian leadership is that we can do that to YOU too.

Other than someone needs to be investigated over that, I guess the takeaway we have from this is that Suleimani didnt read the failing NYT's.

Curious as to what your requests would have been if Obama was still commander in chief?

He joined the Navy Reserves and never thought he could possibly, just possibly be deployed?

P.S. Your wife is being deployed? She is a Patriot.

Do you have any understanding at all that Iran attacked our embassy in Baghdad, and the dude we just killed coordinated that attack? Not to mention he is responsible for hundreds of US deaths around the world.

So how the hell do WE start WWIII?

This has to be the dumbest post in the history of the internet.

Perhaps.

But be patient. Wait a week or so. This guy will easily top the current stupidity. It’s a talent of sorts, I guess.

If my choice was to live under Tom's roof, or get deployed to Iraq, I'd choose Iraq as well.

I think the prayers are for his wife since it's her son.

He'd already served 6 years in the Navy. No, his mother was not deployed. 03-lmfao

And he's not going to the ME, rather Africa. Doesn't make it any easier where he actually is when no one really knows what will happen next here.

Finally, he's a married adult with 3 kids...so no, he doesn't still live with us. 01-wingedeagle

RE: Iranian military commander General Soleimani killed in Baghdad strike
One of my fraternity brothers was recently sent (back) to Kuwait for a 3rd time. He had a direct hand in the embassy protection operation. He told me that he couldn't really give me details right now, but he could probably down the line somewhere. (He also commented that half of the stuff they're doing is on YouTube the moment they do it.)

Suleimani was head of the 20,000 members of the Quds Force which has been deemed a terrorist organization since 2007. Also the probable leader of Hezbollah. His organizations are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of Americans and allies in the wounding of thousands.

And also to all our troops overseas and their families. The next couple days won't be easy for any of them.
