The Four Turnings: Legitimate Theory or Unlegitimate Theory? The Crises We Live
I find this explanation of generational identification and theory interesting and it reminds me of how the Old Testament stated that God would visit the third and fouth generations to see if they still know Him. I think there is legitimacy to this and if correct we are now in the fourth turning or the time of great crises. Watch

There's a ring of truth to it, but history doesn't always follow such a neat pattern.

Looks like an intriguing hypothesis. I'd have to look at it more deeply to get a better understanding of it. My first impression is that there is no predictive value in the theory, so the critiques of it not being falsifiable from a scientific method standpoint makes sense. However, when were talking about a social science concept I can see how it would be more difficult to quantify the theory.

Checking out the Wikipedia article on this - and assuming that the info presented is a fair write up on the theory - the one thing that stands out that makes it hard to justify it outright is the varying lengths of the cycles shown. The New World saeculum is 110 years, the Revolutionary saeculum is 90 years and the Civil War saeculum is only 71 years.
