Happy New Year & Decade 2020 Blazer Talk! What are your resolutions???
I am always a believer of wiping the slate clean in a new year and this will be no different. With a new year comes the opportunity for new goals to be accomplished.

So here are my resolutions for the new year:

1. Be more civil on BlazerTalk.
2. Travel to two international destinations (preferably Dubai and South Africa).
3. Do more volunteer work in Birmingham.

What say you BT posters?

Was gonna say to not drink alcohol. I made it 5.5 hours.
I guess I’ll change it to “drink more water”

I'd like to figure out how I can get involved in coaching basketball. I only played one year, but I'm really into the game...just have no clue how to get into it. Too bad I have no kids, it seems like having them in youth hoops would make it easier haha.

My resolutions are more modest than some mentioned. I am just going to be a better medical patient by eating what I'm supposed to, take my medications and doing the other things to make 2021 a more likely future achievement.

It's a little late for this season, but I would guess that if you show up at a Rec Center near you and offer to volunteer to coach a kids/youth team, they will be happy to have you.

I did just that when I was about 30 in Hoover, and at that point I just had a couple of preschoolers at home. Yeah, most of the other coaches were dads, but it worked out well for me to coach.

For that matter, some private schools/Christian schools have to use volunteer coaches and would probably love to have you, even if it is just an assistant role. I coached high school girls for 9 years, and we were always looking for volunteer coaches.
