And a disappointing end to the bowl season for the Big XII, who finishes at 1-5. Only Texas was able to ring the bell against Utah. The SEC stands at 6-2 with one more to play tonight.

He's a tough guy. Granddad played QB for Texas in the 50s. Dad played QB for Texas in the early 80s. Brother played for Texas Tech. But it sounds like he has had enough concussions. Got hit in the head twice on personal fouls this game. Kirby needs to clean that up. Georgia is not Alabama.
I agree with the personal foul that was a shove to the head by a pass rusher. I wholeheartedly disagree about the sideline tackle. All three players involved were still barely in bounds when the guy who hit him last made his lunge that resulted in the hit out of bounds. I don't disagree with the penalty there, but there was no intent to harm and it was a football move by the player making contact.

It's Baylor's fault for having a kid who can't have the back of his hit the ground still in a tackle football game. It could have happened on any play. His brain is still concussive if falling on his back and having the back of his head in a helmet hitting the ground causes him to black out or lose his bearings. Clearly he should not have been playing at all. The Georgia kid and any other trying to stop a runner going down the sideline could have innocently created the same circumstance or for that matter a pass rusher hitting him square in the chest and putting him on his back.

2nd player launched into him and went full force driving him into the ground after he was out of bounds. 1st player hitting him played it perfectly. It was the 2nd player who took a cheap shot.

lol, no. Was it a penalty? Yes. Was it dirty, no way. it was much closer to not being a penalty though than you think.

Going in to the bowls, the Big 12 was slightly ahead of the SEC in the computers as the #1 conference. Usually, bowls can't change that positioning much, but with the disparity so far, including the SEC being 3-0 vs the Big 12 in the bowls, it just might.

Also, the Big 12 had a brutal lineup. They had games with LSU, Georgia, Utah, and Notre Dame. That's four of the CFP top 15 right there, and then also Navy and Texas AM, both borderline top 25 teams. No gimmes among those games. IIRC, the Big 12 team was the underdog in every game.

BTW, the SEC has two more "bowl" games left, the Gator Bowl and the national title game.

RE: Allstate Sugar Bowl: Baylor vs Georgia
Georgia's performance was pretty remarkable. This was a Baylor team that had lost only two games, both to playoff team Oklahoma, and both by the narrowest of margins. They were unlucky not to win at least one of those games.

And a depleted Georgia team strangled them pretty much start to finish, holding Baylor to their lowest points of the season.

A testament to the amazing recruiting job Smart has done. That is a deep team.

Now Quo that brings me back to the Sagarin saying the Big 12 was the best conference. Their Champion was massacred 63-28. Their other two ranked teams beaten, one by an unranked A&M and the other by a ranked Georgia. Kansas State lost to G5 Navy. Texas picked up their lone bowl win. I see no valid line of comparison to say they were the best conference, or even the 2nd best conference. Clearly it was a tough year for the Big 12.

well, SEC has passed the Little 12 in Sagarin now for the season.... But still ahead of the Big Ten. Big Ten wasn't exactly great top to bottom.

And none of the other conferences really that close.

I look at the Massey Composite, which also has the B12 ahead of the SEC. But that was pre-bowl, so bowl results may well change the final standings.

B1G top to bottom was better than the Big 12.

You might as well look in a crystal ball. Massey, Sagarin, all of these are programs which contain the biases of their programmers. They should never be a part of sports, ever. Results speak for themselves and most definitely in this case statistics are the provenance of losers. They are good tools for driving discussion but that's it.

B1G top to bottom was better than the Big 12.

Sagarin, Massey et al are measuring performance of all the teams in every conference. While the Big XII is rated higher than all but the SEC, it's because they are deeper at the bottom, not the top, where the bowl teams are.

The B1G was, as it almost always is, very top heavy. The B1G's bottom feeders pull down their average more than the Big XII's do.

The B1G's top wasn't quite as heavy as thought. Ohio State, Michigan, and Wisconsin all lost. Only Penn State won, and vs a G5 team.

I think the SEC has been pretty darn good this year!?!

As a conference who has been better? Not arguing and I respect your opinion.

OT: Are mediocre schools like Auburn, A&M, Ole Miss, Miss St, Vandy, Misery and South Carolina really worth $60m a year?

Without Alabama, Auburn is no better than Texas Tech. Just another little brother.

Maybe Kansas and Iowa St can give the sec sec sec what they need. Weak members who give Alabama, Florida, Georgia and LSU more wins during football season.

Jealous Big 12 fanboy.

Has Texas Tech ever won a National Championship? Auburn has won 2. 1957 and 2010...

Actually his whole posting history is bashing anyone in the BXII not named UT, OU, or TT. His #1 target has always been TCU.

He was banned 5 years ago under his previous handle jml (also a Tech fan who relentlessly bashed TCU among a host of others).

I think I remembered that name. Wow.
