Why did he call a T.O. immediately after Gadsden hit a 3 to put us up 3 with 5:59 left in the game? We had momentum and he kills it with a TO right after we hit a 3 ball.

Must be nice to have senior leaders like them. Rebounding was the difference tonight. Effort was there tonight with a lot of steals and deflections.
The fact we have the worst offense in the CAA is the problem. FG 37.7% and 27.3% from 3. We have the press now, but our offense is awful.

We had to sub out the guys who went on the 9-0 run so Towson could go on a 9-0 run.

You'd rather win than have a rare statistical event, but you got the latter. You became the third team from 2010-2011 to the present to make every free throw, have at least 13 steals, and have at least 7 blocks. If you want to know the previous two teams, read twitter.com/EvanJ3535

Given that we can only press after makes, this is of course a huge hindrance. Captain Obvious statement, I know.

An interesting observation from Thursday night that I confirmed tonight: Tolefree has been given a ton of input on which type of press to run.
Against JMU, he was saying to coach "We've gotta get this defense going" (IE the press) and tonight Coach asked him on one play which press BT would like to run, and went with his choice.

Additionally, I will say tonight was the first night in a while that it was fun to be a Seahawk fan. Great atmosphere and fun game. We also weren't completely outmanned, mentally or physically. Proud of the kids for how they came out.
That defensive play by Okauru in the 2nd half was sick too. Grabbing the ball right out of the hands of the Towson player going up for a layup/dunk with 2 hands. You only usually see a play like that in the NBA from a guy like Anthony Davis. I certainly haven't seen it at the mid-major collegiate level.

Losing this one in year 3 and starting CAA play 0-4 is unacceptable. We should not be “rebuilding” in year 3 of a coaching staff, no matter what amount of talent Keatts left. Heck, McGrath’s best year was his first year with what was left from the previous regime.
The problem is he is a slow learner. It took him this long to figure out we needed to press.
To his credit, it took him less time to figure it out than it took Wes Miller.
Two things:
1. Who would have thought at the beginning of the season that our strength in conference play would be our defense and our weakness our offense?
2. It seems McGrath is willing to stick with the press... what was the driving force in him finally making the switch?

Perhaps he should get BT to give him some offensive strategy pointers as well.

Of course, but not my point. We are scoring 63.5 ppg in CAA play, next to last. And we aren't scoring so low because we choose to run a slow pace, we're scoring so low because our offense is terrible and we shoot a terrible percent from everywhere. Hence, the Keatts strategy. Recruit high volume scorers out of HS, regardless of size, then put them in a press to overcome their weakness on defense due to size.

I will agree with this. The press creates excitment and energy and you could see it in the players demeanor. If we can somehow get our offense going, this team will surprise someone in the tournament. But what will McGrath do to get the offense on track?

Although I love seeing the press, i'm not sold on the strength of our defense yet. The top offenses in the CAA in conference play are Hofstra, CofC, W&M, NU and Elon. We haven't played one of them yet.

Yes. Perhaps I miss worded that. Obviously we still struggle and have issues but it seems we’ve turned a corner on defense by finally using the press and our offense is pitiful. I bet if we go back and look at preseason hopes and comments that’s exactly opposite of where we thought we’d be.

The press certainly worked well against a turnover prone team like Towson, and was crucial to offset our size differential.
It’ll be very interesting to see it against some of the other teams.
