An ex-PAC 12 head coach as your DC would be an important hire. Plus he would be familiar with his DB coach since they were both in the same position at ole miss. My only concern is that they understand the Memphis job and what we are trying to do here. We are still trying to build a strong and winning program. We are still pushing that rock up the mountain.
So, are you simply stating that MEMPHIS > Ole Prius ....We’re no longer “On The Cusp” We have crescendoed their culture... FOREVER

Mike Macintyre grew up with Rex Dockery's sons 1st in Nashville when their fathers coached at Vanderbilt, then moving with them to Lubbock when their fathers went with rest of staff to Texas Tech. Bob Patterson was the DL coach and later became Memphis St AD who hired Rex Dockery. What is it that message board people need to lecture Mike Macintyre about The Memphis Job?

He's still got 2 more years on his Colorado K and Ole Miss has to pay him as well. He's already making more than HC.
That's a big part of why he's coming - he just needs to keep working and Colorado has to keep paying full value of his contract.

All he needs now is a PERFORMANCE bonus...

He was a Broyles Award nominee in his 1st year at Ole Miss revamping their sorry 2018 D.
His performance bonus pays at the end of every day - doing an honest, hard days work.
Mike Macintyre was AP Coach of Year 2016. George Macintyre was National Coach of Year I believe in 1982. Have heard it before that they are the only father/son national coach of year recipients.
Football family - and a good man.

It's a good hire, even if he does bounce to a P5 job next year or CUSA HC.

RE: New asst Football coaches thread
He 1st and foremost just needs to continue working so that Colorado has to pay out the full amount of that K for 2 more years (see below). He will not get a P5 coordinator job that pays P5 HC $3.5 mil salary.
So we have him at very least thru the Colorado K and by then he is pushing 60. Also, Clark is to Macintyre what Tim Walton was to Tommy West. Clark is going to be groomed as a possible DC in future.
They just bought a very nice home a year ago less than an hour away so they can take their time - he only needs an Apt. in Memphis. Plus most of their kids are West Coast so the Airport accessibility actually was a factor here - who knew!
Memphis just hired a P5 DC who was a Broyles Award nominee 2 months ago - let that sink in. And we got Robin to his Batman as DB coach too.

Former P5 Conference HC coach of year was let go a year ago. He now is available again after being DC for school which let their HC go.
He doesn't need big $ from Memphis - he just needs to keep working and his former HC gig will have to continue paying him 5 mil for next 2 years. Former school has to pay the difference in his salary to the full $5 mil of his K.
Football family - his father was former national coach of year. His father coached with Rex Dockery and Parcells.
He coached against Silverfield this year. And the school who just employed him would not like the idea of him going to Tigers as Coordinator.
Very interesting - we'll see
Mike MacIntyre.

Good to see coaching staff rounding out. Tigers still in need of LB for the 2020 class. There are several defensive players who have not signed who were once committed to Ole Miss, Miss State, LSU that we offered earlier in the year that I hope Coach Silverfield and staff can bring on board.
Now the question is will Coach Silverfield retain Clune and Edwards as LB and DL coaches; who the next OL coach will be and Simons and Jones as WR and RB coach. Hard to believe he would make changes on the offensive side of the ball.

RE: New asst Football coaches thread
Loyalty counts.
Deke Adams is now available and is regarded as great recruiter/DL coach - but he screwed Norvell taking Memphis DL job for 3 weeks before bolting to Mississippi State and Edwards was a last minute replacement.
Maybe a successor to Clune as LB coach tends to be a big recruiter assistant - but again players know he got a battlefield promotion in Cotton Bowl when Fuller bailed on them. That's not a good look. Macintyre would have a lot of input on this and he has character and honor about him - although tempting and logical just see Clune for continuity alone one more year.
We'll see how it plays out. Not scrambling for the 1st time after a coaching change is just amazing.

I question his decision making and moral character after being fired from Colorado. JMO. Something seems off about a person who listens to a woman in distress and does little about it. He mishandled this matter in several ways. Yet, I'll let you decide if he is worthy of Memphis' DC.

The coach is not independent of the University president and Chancellor.
If you are a fair person and you want to debate this in terms of culpability you should acknowledge context as well.

True, the coach is not independent of the leaders of the University.
Let's be fair then, this is not about who is at fault. This is about a crime being committed against another human being and how it was handled. This head coach was approached by the girlfriend of one of his assistants seeking relief. His concern for a woman who is being beaten by a man for a couple of years is void. His response seemed more concerned for the school than the female by contacting the AD. The assault on a person should have been handled by the authorities. That would seem simple enough rather than go into protection mode.

Judge dismissed her cause of action against all parties - the use of the word Crime is inaccurate and dramatic.
He has a 7.5 million 3 year buyout - there would be no buyout for Cause and Colorado would not be paying him.
The President and Chancellor, as woman had not filed TRO nor had legal charges been filed on her allegations which Macintyre had submitted that point, told Macintyre that naming asst interim DC was proper At That Time. Her TRO and legal charges against asst were not made until about a week later.
As much as you would like to be his judge and jury a Judge heard her cause of action and it was dismissed.
Why don't you call AD and Silverfield with your investigative research - they have said they vetted Macintyre over several weeks and only fool would not think this was not discussed.
Your post implies an Art Briles for cause dismissal which is misrepresenting facts. If he was let go for cause by Colorado they would not be paying him $7.5 million dollars.
Be fair and provide context when attacking someone's character - poor form.

Bad move by him. He could have been at FSU right now. I'll take stability before I build a house on sand by taking a bottom feeding SEC job.

Yeah... If I find you wrong, yes, I do judge. I judge poor performance and character among other things. Poor form is defending poor character or maybe for you, it's just lowered expectations. I just so happen to have standards that I live by and I won't lower them for anyone. Mr. Macintyre is not guilty of a crime but is by me found wanting.
