Monday Musings
WOW! what a game put on by EMU and Pitt. Big crowd as the EMU fans showed out to the tune of 36,000!!. Perfect storm of events (Thursday night, holiday weekend, good weather, local opponents) helped fuel a quick lane bowl record. (I believe 2007 CMU vs Purdue was 51k) The end of the game was real unfortunate for two people. Mike Glass probably will cost him some training camp invites, and Chris Creighton. The incident seen by 3.6 million viewers!! (huge tv audience) made it appear our team is not who we are to a national audience.
This is actually good for emu fans as it means we will keep Creighton for at least another year. Without lightning in a bottle, I think he will be here for awhile although one situation worries me.
I muse Lincoln Riley could end up in Dallas and Matt Campbell to Oklahoma that could then maybe open up Iowa State as a landing spot for the former Drake Coach
Also I am against the idea of moving a home game to Ford Field. We did that before in the early 2000s and the crowds were mediocre at best. Again you would need a perfect storm of events to get a crowd like we saw this week, also Why turn a cmu game into a potential road game @ ford field?
I told murph I could've went to Vegas as a motivational speaker, He did not take me up on that offer and we looked like many in-conference road games of the last 9 years. No Offense I was waiting on Ecorse Road and everything........ Big game Jan 4 to open up conference play vs The Akron Lebrons.. Happy New year normal Huron eagle fans..

The Pitt team was playing dirty. A lot of head butting after the play was over when the refs were busy trying spread out the players.

That's a reflection of their coach. Narduzzi is a douchebag. Probably recruits kid without any regard to their character.

What Kentucky's Bowden did pregame was far worse than Glass' incident.

RE: Monday Musings
While yes the idea of a Ford Field game might not be financially feasible, let’s at least make sure that we understand why these games happened:

1) It was intended as a nice recruiting tool for Detroit.
2) It allowed for a game that would have been a home game in November to be played indoors which would likely bring in more people to the game, especially if the weather was poor.
3) The final Ford Field game vs Northwestern was played on a Friday Night when playoff games were happening. This is why your turnout was not that good song with the fact the team wasn’t that successful.
4) The success of the first game between CMU vs EMU also mirrors the time Ford Field opened up so a lot of people were curious about the stadium. Not to mention too that first game is the best EMU game I’ve even been to and probably the best one I’ve ever seen live even beating out this year’s amazing bowl game and last year’s bowl game.
5) We had the opportunity to get a home game against teams that wouldn’t have come to us otherwise. How many of you were bummed out about UK backing out of our home game. At the least we got a home game against a Big Ten School out of this deal.

Yes, fine.. it’s not the best economically feasible idea to do yearly or maybe even at all. However, there were really good crowds for the first two against CMU and WMU. If we have a home game in November where we could guarantee a better crowd, I might look into it again. I was fortunate too that I went to all of the games at Ford Field as a student. They had a bus trip each year that was so convenient. I also loved the one year where the university offered bus trip to all of the road games. Maybe we should look into that as a possibility too.

Just some thoughts to throw in.

Also I laugh at how Bowden seems to be excused for what he did today in his game versus how Glass was vilified.

Stop that b.s. The game was chippy from start to finish. My takeaway: Creighton (not a good in game coach) recruits tough players and the strength and conditioning staff must be damn good because these kids can play toe to toe with P5 programs and are certainly not intimidated. If Matt Campbell leaves Iowa State, I could see Jamie Pollard going after Chris Creighton. A few more wins and he'd probably be gone. Despite some dumb losses, it is nice seeing a tough EMU squad. Hats off to the program.

generally speaking im more worried about a good program losing a coach going after CC than a bad one. ISU, Cincy, Pitt, Purdue. Schools like that.

Since we are having this speculative conversation, are there P5 head coaching jobs open???

Or are we having a conversation about something which may happen in the more distant future??

Miss State just opened last night/this morning. Baylor will be open if their coach opts to go to the NFL, sounds like he's in the mix for Giants job. Oklahoma could open if Jerry Jones gives Lincoln Riley a blank check.
