First look at possible 2020 football depth chart: offense
Just for fun, here is a first shot at a 2020 offensive roster. Hopefully more new signees coming in February and as late signees. This would be a great year to take a few high talent grad transfers to fill a couple of key gaps.

** Unable to play most or all of 2019 season (injury or eligibility)

#-signed in Dec 2019

Underline: multi-game starting experience

QB – T. Johnston (R-JR), D. Hopkins (R-SO), B. Lucero (R-FR)

RB – S. Brown (SR), **W. Pollock (R-SO), L. Stanley (R-JR), J. Brown Jr (SO), L. Wooden (R-JR), D. Godfrey (R-JR), #-D. McBride (FR, signee, could also play LB)

WR – A. Watkins (R-SR), R. Johnson (R-JR)

WR – M. Mitchell (R-SR), K. Davis (R-JR), R. Davis (R-FR)

WR – M. Grossman (SR), X. Coleman (R-JR), S. Rudolph (R-FR)

TE – H. Pittman (R-SR), #-Maleak Bryant (JR, JUCO signee), G. Prince (R-SR), S. Clinton (R-SR)

LT – C. Ragland (R-SR), **S. Vardaman (R-SO), #-Zach Taylor (FR signee)

LG – G. Fecanin (R-SR), J. Jones (SR), Z. Aylor (R-FR)

C – A. Smith
Jr (SR), W. Rykard (R-FR)

RG - P. Nuss (R-JR), **M. Trehern (R-JR), C. Noble (R-SO), #-Zaire Fluornoy (FR, signee)

RT – S. Wells (SR), **J. Motley-Simmons (R-FR), C. Wood (R-JR), #-Trey Bedosky (FR, signee)

THINGS TO BE EXCITED ABOUT
1. The youngest Olinemen are a reason to be excited for the future. This years signing class has the appearance of the best crop of HS signees under Clark. Im thinking of 2021 or 2022 when we have Motley Simmons, Trey Bedosky, W Rykard, Zaire Fluornoy (who may be our most under rated early signee), and Zach Taylor all with a redshirt and a year or two in the program.
2. Big, talented tight end in Maleak Bryant.
3. Werlean Pollock returning. Hopefully.
4. Watkins and Mitchell returning.
5. Two experienced, talented QBs who each made a boatload of in game big plays and mistakes, and hopefully learned and grew from them.

GAPS
1. My opinion; the Oline was the team Achilles heel in 2019. Lost two graduating senior starters who were injured half the season. Lots of returning experience there. But IMHO we still need 1 to 2 JUCO or grad transfer Olinemen, who are immediately ready to play, unless Trehern, Vardaman, Motley-Simmons or one of the freshman signees are ready to step up and compete for a significant spot in the playing rotation. If i had to pick one from that pack showing up in the early season it would be Vardaman, and Motley-Simmons perhaps mid to late season. More specifically, we need a right tackle with very good feet, and a road grader guard able to pancake an FAU Defensive lineman in next years conference championship game.

2. Need young, tall, fast WRs. We signed no WR out of HS the past two years, except Brown who is now a RB. Seems to be a similar strategy to our Oline recruiting the first two years of the return. Only PWOs out of HS with only a few exceptions (Nuss). Depth, age distribution and experience at WR right now are a bit alarming, unless the coaches are moving over some younger DBs to WR. Hopefully our 4 star JUCO signee from 2019, Johnson, steps up and lives up to his ratings. He played in several games this year but did not catch a pass.

3. Need a burner at RB. Maybe thats Pollock if he is fully recovered. But we need someone with enough vision, burst and speed to find a crease and take it the length of the field any play, someone who frightens defensive coordinators. We do not have such a back right now. Little Brown is the closest, quick as a cat, but not yet clear he is a break away back.

4. Need a remarkably talented, highly mobile, undersized and overlooked QB who can prove to be a wild card success as a third option. Maybe from Juco.

I would prefer Pollock at WR. As a R-Fr he has time to learn the position. His RB experience would bode well for YAC. I just don't like tall RBS - too much to hit, often-injured as a result. Pollock is listed as 6'3" 200lbs...

Thats a good point, and depending on his ability to cut after recovery he could very well move to WR. Might be a very nice ootion there. but Im hoping for a 220 lb version of Pollock in the backfield. Of course none of us has actually seen him carry the ball more than once, so he is speculative as a major contributor out of the backfield. The guys the coaches brag on in the off season dont always show up as gamers.

Maybe he goes back to WR, with Harris and Street returning. But I suspect coach clark is a guy who never believes he has enough good DBs to last a season, and a one year move back to WR for a startier quality senior corner doesnt seem likely.

Marshall has developed into an NFL prospect at DB. I don't see him going back to WR.

I originally thought Prince might play WR. Perhaps if Makeak Bryant lives up to his rating they can move Prince outside.

I also thought that tall, fast RS freshman w first name Xavier (last name escapes me at the moment) might move from CB over to WR. I didnt see him play any this year and we seem loaded at DB next hear.

I hope Xavier Lanier is moved from CB to Saf, along with Kobe Griffin(MLB), and Damien Miller (CB).

We’re pretty beat up at Saf, Street and Acfalle both injured would create competition at Saf for the spring camp. Replace the biggest loss from the defense in Will Dawkins. And give that Saf coach more depth, I was impressed by the Saf group as a whole this past season. Only spot with three base guys, 12 guys there gives you a four deep.

We played with 10 safeties last year, or 8 since we lost Acfalle and Street.

RE: First look at possible 2020 football depth chart: offense
The biggest question I have about people returning on Offense is Bryant Vincent. We can have all the world beaters in the world, but if our offense consists of delayed draws, TE flare screens, and the occasional "Everybody run deep!" passing plays, we will waste another year of having an incredibly talented roster.

Okay, now that I was Negative Nancy, I'll be Positive Pollyanna. I think this is a stellar set of returning starters and am excited for spring football.

I think a the JUCO TE is going to help open up the offense and help it be more balanced.

Unless the OL improves it will not matter who is calling the plays or what plays are called

Along with current Blazer Jordan Smith, he was one of the players at Florida who got in trouble for fraudulent credit card use.

Telfort looks to be one of the answers at right tackle or guard. I wonder if Vardaman will step into a key role now that he has a year in the program.
