"Personal reasons" were mentioned in the post game interview with Jackson. I missed the pre-game talk by the announcers, don't know if anything was mentioned there.

BTW Jackson is a pretty good speaker, gives clear, concise answers...maybe better than Hill.

Family issues with Levi.

RE: Conference Standings Predictions
Much to all our fellow WAC mate fans 16-0 is looking pretty good at this point for NMSU. We stand at 10-0 right now with 4 out of the last 6 games at home where we don't lose. We already swept the mighty Roos and beat UTRGV on the road, defeated CBU by 16 in Riverside. Looks like Frank is going to get to gloat on everyone here! I'm still laughing about the 12-4 prediction. I should have taken the bet.

Definitely looking possible now. Also looking like the tournament seeds could end up almost the same as last year, just swapping UVU and Seattle from 3/7 to 7/3.

Which means we could have a third chance at you in the semifinals.

I just hope we get back Trev Queen back before the WAC Tournament. A lot of these WAC regular season games are getting a little too close for comfort.

Lopes fans haven’t had much to look forward to this season (except maybe next season), but after Canyon’s strong performance against CBU on the road, I think we should give the Aggies a bit more of a challenge than we did in Las Cruces recently. It’s all about momentum and finding your groove as a team. Maybe something is clicking? Maybe we get our clocks cleaned and lose by 20+. Which Lopes show up?

I've been saying that the CSUB/GCU road trip scares me because of how well both teams play at home. CSUB game was close in LC and we needed an overtime buzzer beater to beat them last year. GCU always plays well at home and the crowd really gets into the game.

No so much this season, I'm afraid.

We should have Queen back for GCU and Bakersfield. That should give us a boost.

Its that way every year. Really hard to run the table in a conference. The WAC teams are decent enough to make it tough. Even Gonzaga has had to squeak some games out vs. some crappy teams in the WCC. I notice when the guys are focused, like in the GCU game no one can touch us. However, teams like CSUB that are pushing, grabbing and fouling on every possession are really tough to focus.

Any type of defense (and offense) that pushes our undersized guards around gives us trouble. NMSU lost their two biggest guards in 6'6 Trev Queen (knee, 4-6 weeks) and 6'4 Clayton Henry (hand, season ending). The team is playing hard but there are mis-matches to be exploited; if an opposing coach can execute it.

Hilarious! I don't know who is better at that type of "defense" - Rio or Bako. But make no mistake, Levi is the crown prince of pushing/grabbing/fouling/getting under your skin.

Cal State Bakersfield just plays physical as a team. Their intent is to bump and grab as much as possible; committing more fouls than a ref can possibly call on each possession. At some point, the refs start to swallowing their whistles.

UT Rio Grande Valley is just chippy. They try to get into your head with borderline dirty plays. UTRGV plays hard and they don't give up on any play but that is usually at the detriment of the opposing player. I still remember last season when the little used UTRGV center hurt Ivan Aurrecoechea when he was on a break away dunk.

Cal State Bakersfield's defense roughs up opponents. The opponent usually comes out of the game black and blue. UT Rio Grande Valley defense make opponents play with eyes in the back of their heads and their head on a swivel. They don't foul as much as CSUB but they make those fouls count.

Just my opinion.

When your not that good you have to play dirty. Cheap foul and Ivan hurt him for the rest of the year and did the same thing to Trev Queen on a break away. The coach of UTRGV proceeded to charge at Jans like he wanted to fight. No class.

I agree Levi is the crown prince but he actually doesn't get called for that many : 43 this season, or under 2.4 per game.

Compare that to Jordan "Hackson" Jackson at 55 fouls, Uche "The Jersey Ripper" Dibiamaka at 30 fouls but in only half the minutes, or Sean Rhea, who flagrant technical fouls his own teammates in warm-ups if he can't get his hands on an opponent.

Bring on Bako! We're not afraid.

Ivan needs to take a little part of the responsibility. If he wasn't such a mediocre free throw shooter maybe people would be less inclined to foul him.

As for Queen, did we do that? Thought his last game was a Seattle, didn't play when y'all came over here. Or maybe you're talking about last year.

Have to admit that Hill himself uses the word "dirty" a lot in interviews, in reference to his own team, and not disapprovingly either. But I don't think he means intentionally injuring anyone, like Dancing suggests. Gueye vs. Aurrecochea was just an unfortunate case of two large guys airborne. You could argue that Gueye was playing dangerously but I really doubt he was sent out as a sacrificial player to take out Aurrecochea.

Ivan is shooting 74% from the free throw line in WAC games.
