We look absolutely clueless offensively. Groce is the only one trying to find a way to the basketball but his shots have been ugly today.

Murphyball is garbage. I'm sticking with my 3 MAC wins prediction.

To put it in context, Akron may well be the best team in the MAC. A loss today doesn't guarantee a subpar MAC season.

But we do not look good at all out there. I don't like being out-classed at every position on the floor. Bad sign that we're struggling to stay close.

Chris James has been the lone bright spot so far. He is a really good rebounder for a guard. Isn’t afraid to get his nose dirty.

I’m sure he will only play 5 minutes in the second half.

Akron is 8 - 11 behind the arc. Hopefully they go cold in the 2nd half.

I agree! I need to change my prediction to 6-12 in the MAC! We can't shoot period! Offense's atrocious so far! James should be starting........Binelli hasn't shown me so far either! Blowout in A MAC game at home! 16-30 is the score!

Unwatchable...

Question: When was the last time we had the final possession in the first half... and actually scored? Seems like every single time we try to close out the half with the ball we dribble it off our shoe and out of bounds or throw up a contest 3 at the buzzer.

About as bad of a half as you can play offensively. Thought we did well defensively, especially inside. They hit some tough 3’s. Even if they cool off, I can’t see us out scoring them. Probably the worst offensive team we’ve had under Murphy, save for maybe his first year.

So what is our favorite author going to do to fix this? There's nothing he really can do at this point. He wont be able to recruit to this sh!tshow and he can't coach up what he has.

And he's under contract for another year??? He's stealing at this point.

Here’s the thing. Spottsville and King can never be on the court together. It’s basically 3 on 5 offensively when that is the case. They played at least 5 minutes together in the first half and I don’t think we had a field goal.

Murphy’s offense is atrocious, but he sabotages it even more when he has poor offensive players out there. Makes it even more frustrating.

I'll echo what others have already said:

Horrible first half of basketball. The offense was putrid. James should play more. His ceiling is much higher than Spottsville, and if we're going to be a team to beat NEXT season, their roles need to be reversed.

KenPom loves Akron (which is what Chad brings up most while I'm listening), despite the fact that they have a bad OOC schedule.
I'm not going to let any negative result today dramatically change my view on this team just yet. Akron is a tough matchup for us even when we're at our best. They play physical, full-court pressure, and get in our face. We don't handle any of that well.

Akron could very well end up getting an automatic trip to Cleveland.

Great defense again so far. Glad these guys didn’t quit. Still can’t buy a bucket, but we are chipping away. I like Montero’s intensity today.
