What have we got to lose? We know we are getting destroyed on the boards and are one and done on offense. If those two could set some picks for our gaurds, let the guards penetrate and get the ball on the glass or kick out, we could at least get some 2nd chance opportunities.

Something must change.

Plenty of chances to rebound the ball the way this team shoots the ball so far.
I also just watched MSU get destroyed by Purdue at home and I thought early in the year they could win the NCAA and you know what-they still might win it. College basketball this season is about as wacky at it can get.
I am still not ready to fire the coach even though they have played like ass for a good little while. They have a contract and lets see what happens for the rest of this season. They have to get better simply because they really could not play any worse.

They were playing worse. It took McGrath 2.5 years to finally press. If it weren't for the fact he finally began to press, I really can't imagine how badly we would have lost our conference games.

My bet is he is gone at the end of the year. We are really bad in a mediocre conference. At least Benny and Buzz were bad in a pretty good conference.

Here’s the issue I have with “we just need some bigs.”

1. It’s incredibly rare to find bigs in transfers or especially HS that are immediate contributors.

2. Let’s say this summer he lands one, two, or even fills every open slot we have with bigs. He’s proven he doesn’t know how to COACH them effectively. He tried to make Cacok a post player. How many games did we lose because he essentially removed Cacok’s athleticism and ability to be a pick and roll asset? It’s not like we had never seen Cacok be successful as a pick and roll guy. We watched it with our own eyes... him owning the conference, and now we see it happening in the pro level.

I don’t trust McGrath to be able coach bigs even if we somehow convince them to play at UNCW.

Truth. Time to move on. If we don't make a move, i'm afraid some players we have now will at the end of the season. What happens then?

You’re too kind saying this is a mediocre conference, the CAA is worse than mediocre this year. Which shows how much UNCW sucks, we just lost to Elon who has a new coach by 17 points and shot 17% in the SECOND HALF!! We have also have an 11 game losing streak that will be 23 straight losses by the end of the regular season. No way we win another game this year.

Pretty bleak times for UNCW hoops. I think we'll be hiring a new HC and AD within the next few months.

AD? What makes you think we go that far?

We're in the middle of what could possibly be the worst basketball season in the history of UNCW. When things get this bad, multiple people usually lose their jobs. I can't see the people calling the shots letting Jimmy get a pass for this one.

I also think if one goes they both have to go. I don't see it happening this season but if the worst case scenario goes down it might. It would be a serious setback for basketball but maybe it is needed to get the athletic department a kick start of sorts.

If you let both go, you better hire a new Ad that already has the connections to bring a good coach(presenting names in his interview!). If not, do you really want a brand new AD in charge of making an important hire?

The chancellor is a numbers guy who is all about growing the school and the brand. He might want his own guy heading up the department. Its a great job and would have a ton of people to pick from and that goes for both jobs I think.

Honestly, I like Jimmy and don't necessarily want him to be fired. I just think it's going to be the result of this disastrous season. It could be a situation like what happened at ECU. Where they brought in an Interim AD with some good connections to hire the coach.

Finally.

I also like making Burke the interim coach.

I at least have a reason to keep Flosports. It will be interesting to see what changes are made.

Interesting for sure. Especially considering we have a home game in 3 days, with the students getting back. The first home game with any fanfare in a while and CB won't be there.
