I think I understand.

They’re in a much better facility, but it’s not necessarily the best home.

It could have been worse for Miami, they could have been playing FAU in the independence bowl. FAU would have hung 50 points on them easily. Miami does not have the money to compete for the ACC crown , they should consider giving up football and put their money towards basketball in the big east which they are quite competitive.

Miami is not competitive in the ACC football for the past 15 years and is not competitive for the foreseeable future, they dont have the money to be nationally competitive in football. They are losing to G5 teams on a regular basis. They have been and could be nationally competitive in basketball. Namecalling and mockery does not change the facts on the ground.

Miami has some big advantages over fellow private school Notre Dame. The Irish compete OK in football - so can the Canes. They do need to stop making bad hires, though.

I have no problem making meaningful contributions. Miami needs a new image. That image should be as a top 10 basketball school. That's where they should put their money and effort. The U of is an urban university in an urban campus in a NBA city. UM's future is a basketball school not a football school.

That's one advantage Notre Dame has.

Miami can fill a top 10 signing class from a car, without a single overnight recruiting trip.

I actually kinda agree with this post. Miami has built its rep on its “bad boy” image, you can get away with that while basketball is still about the Jimmy’s and Joe’s. In football you need to be a team player and disciplined, and more and more we are finding out how important a good “culture” is with football success. Miami’s football culture is inherently rotten. No reason Miami can’t be the next Duke while still being competitive in football.

There’s no reason Rice, or Vanderbilt, or Holy Cross can’t be the next Duke.....had they hired Coach K. Imagine if Stevens stayed at Butler: how many titles would he have?

Anyway, what if Miami hired Kiffin? That would have been amazing in so many ways.
