RE: WAC Basketball week 8
Getting AJ back is awesome but Gilyard back is even more awesome. Gilyard is probably the best scoring point guard in WAC. Is Terrell Brown of Seattle a point guard? Well, Gilyard is right there with him. The guy is flat out good. IMO we would be probably 13-2 or maybe even 14-1 with those point guards. Shunn has a big heart but is a zero scoring threat and should probably be playing D2 basketball. The margin of 5 of our 6 losses was our point guard play. With AJ, Gilyard or both we probably sweep UNM and Utep again and for sure close out George Mason. Even with AJ and Gilyard don't think we take Arizona but the point guard play is evident. On an off night we could drop a game or two in the WAC but I think a 14-2 WAC record is probably realistic for NMSU now.

There is no use crying over spilled milk now. But if NMSU had Harris, Henry, and Likayi from the onset and added Gilyard now, the only School I thinks beats NMSU is Arizona. But it would have been much closer in score. Realistically, NMSU could have been 15-1. I don't think UNM and UTEP win any game against NMSU. NMSU would have won the Grand Caymans Classic. And, NMSU would have beaten Washington State. Just my opinion.

"IF" Terrell Brown can get healthy and back to last season's form; Shawn William can find his shooting stroke; Henry can show the shooting stroke Jans raved about in the offseason; And, Harris and Gilyard can lead the team the way Aggie fans know they are capable of doing, I think NMSU wins the WAC tourney with little resistance and possibly upset someone in the NCAA tourney.

And "if" Dan Majerle could recruit and coach better, GCU would be undefeated. Yet, here we all are... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The difference is we have the players on our roster to win most of these OOC games. It's just the injuries in the offseason have taken its' tole and set this team's progress back months.

Majerle isn't getting the type of recruits "he needs" to get to the next level. And, frankly, I'm not sure Majerle is the right coach to make it happen at GCU. With all GCU's money, they should be looking for the next Mark Few. To be honest, I think CBU is currently set up for more success with Rick Croy at their helm. Majerle is all bluster.
