You played well and deserved to win. Your program has to be considered one of the elites in college football, regardless of labels. You have nothing but my respect.

Good game Marshall. Was an interesting game, which is more than a lot of some dud bowl games in FBS can say.

Time to get you an up and comer coach to take you to the next level.

Yes, forget the "He's a Marshall grad" or "He's from WV" get a proven winner an innovator seems to work well for schools like App. St. Memphis, Temple, etc.

The NCAA disagrees with you...

Anyway, the NCAA does not recognize FBS champions, never has. They allow other organizations to recognize FBS champions. The FCS team is recognized as the Division I National Champions.

On a serious note...who is that guy? The days of hiring that OC from a big program may be gone, they make too much money to take a chance of messing it up at G5. I like our hire cause he has head coaching experience. When you look at the hires at G5, that seems to be a rarity unless you are hiring someone with baggage. I think a lot of times schools hang on to a coach because they have no one they can replace him with that would be better.

That is who we hired - Penn State’s OC. We’ll see how it works out.

Dont you think Willie came with baggage? He was just fired. As for a OC making too much money to take a G5 head coaching job.....

most know the best way and only way to a P5 head coaching job is to become a head coach at a G5. There are 65 P5 schools so that means 130 OC or DC.

Asst coaches making 1 million or over ..24
Asst coaches making 900k or over ...36 so only 36 asst coaches making what most G5 schools are paying close to. From a quick check, Ohio St had 5 asst coaches at 900k or above. So more than half of P5 OC's are making less than they would as head coach.

Tell me which way is it best to become a coach at a mid to high P5 and get that 3.5 million up contract? Your odds are a lot better at taking the G5 head coaching job. Than working your way up the ladder just as a P5 OC or DC.

If Doc wins 9 or more games next year he will still be at Marshall for at the very least 3 more years. The odds are very good Marshall will get to 8 or more because 6 out of the last 7 seasons Marshall has won 8 or more games and 4 out of 7...9, 10, 10, 13. Only a true meltdown or maybe less than 7 wins is getting Doc fired

What if a meteor lands on Boca and kills everyone in a 10-mile radius?

In the meantime, let’s deal with problems that actually exist.

I am virtually certain next year will be it for Doc no matter what. Announced attendance has failed 25% over the last 4 year, and real in-person attendance absolutely tanked the back half. They had to cancel the pre-game Thunderwalk against FIU because virtually no one was there. I think Marshall is going to see a season ticket nosedive this year, and it's easy to see coming. You talk around town and no one wants him back. No one cares that he won 8 games this year. We are championship-less, bowl trophy-less, and laid 3 duds against the 3 name teams we played. The AD is trying to raise $50 million more from the public though an announced "Herd Rises" campaign, and I just don't see that playing out with a Doc extension at this time.

YG, we won't win 7 next year. Six and six and 4th in the east unless a QB falls from the sky, but even then it would be a freshman (RS or actual) and Doc would cut the playbook even further.

Looking at next years schedule I see six wins as the maximum number, I agree fourth in the east.

Unfortunately this game was a L as soon as it was announced. Marshall doesnt have an offense to compete. So much depends on the QB in G5.
Look at Tech, as soon as the CUSA POY was suspended, I knew Tech would not win without him. FAU would not have won without their skinny QB from Mesquite

I'll give Doc a little credit, he was smart enough to not hire Shannon Dawson from USM as his OC a couple years back 04-cheers

Strange, I thought Knox was CUSA POTY.

MU was good team, had POTY and beat FAU the champions. Also had 6-2 Conference record
