I would put the Sunbelts top programs against any team in the AAC. TROY (aside from this season. We made a horrible hire) App state, Louisiana, Ark state, Georgia Southern...

We are all under one umbrella as hard as it is for some of you to accept. And your right we do need to support each otber, and yes I would love for the AAC, Sunbelt and all the other conferences to rise above G5 status, however right now...that’s not the case we are all G5 in it together. Let the student-athletes showcase their ability and prove that on the field. Like Troy knocked off LSU in 2017 on their homecoming. Beat Nebraska last yr, etc. I understand y’all s marketing efforts and the point of doing it. But bottom line is we are where we are. Maybe it will al change in the future. When it does great. You didn't say anything about SMU academics? When an SMU fan says to you "I like you, you have spunk for a community college school," they are talking about your academics. If you don't realize that, you're not so bright. So when you respond "However, you being an SMU fan calling Troy a Community College? I’d rethink that. Troy has earned its respect and reputation among one of the top g5 schools in recent past. Don’t believe me do your research." I assumed you were talking academics too. Sorry you didn't realize you got academically smacked down.

But if you're only talking SMU football, they were ranked 8 weeks this year (vs 1 in your history) and ranked as high as #15 (vs #25). And that's ignoring SMU's history which includes multiple top 5 finishes and 3 national championships from NCAA designated major selectors. (Ugh... I'm defending SMU)

Football facts that Sunbelt is not way below the AAC? RPI and CBS Spirts both have the AAC as the 5th best conference this year. That's right, above the ACC. Sunbelt was 8th.

" So you were behind a team that fired its coach. UH definitely didnt consider itself a top G5 team last year. Thats why we fired our coach. So if you consider that successful, it shows me a low bar. Your point shows a huge difference between AAC teams and the G4. Being a top G5 team is not a goal for AAC teams. Being a top team is our goal. Being the bottom of top 15 G5 is considered a failure.

You put those top Sunbelt teams against the AAC? No one else does. 2018 the AAC had 2 teams finished ranked. Sunbelt 0. 2017 AAC had 3 finished ranked including #6. Sunbelt 0. 2016 AAC had 1 finished ranked. Sunbelt 0. 2025 AAC 2 finished ranked including my Coogs #8. Sunbelt 0. Looks like this is the 1st year the Sunbelt has a ranked team. Congrats App State! Well deserved.

Would I tell a Troy student athlete that the academics and athletics are inferior? I wouldn't volunteer it because I'm polite. But if pushed, I wouldn't lie. Does Troy have some superior academic programs? I'm sure they do. That's what makes each college great. I can be honest though, even about my own school. Does UH have some superior programs to SMU or Tulane? No doubt. Overall academic comparison? Yes, they are superior. Can you admit the same?

It's good that you're proud of your school and conference. You should be. So are we. But you feel insulted when we show pride in ours and try to tear it down.

You say it's all D1 football. So why denigrate the AAC when we claim to be towards the top instead of the bottom? P6 doesn't say that G4 isn't D1.

Oh lord, one bad season - Every team has one. Get a grip dude. We’ve had 3 - 10 + win seasons aside from this past one. A Top 25 team with wins over LSU, Nebraska, and almost handed Clemson a pillow on their own turf. Not to mention 3 straight bowl wins. We’ve earned our respect as one of the top G5 programs.

And for the dumb*** that said we’re the 4th or 5th best team in Alabama...UAB and South Alabama have been our ***** since they started a football program. Go look at the history.

I could take on a bunch of 3rd grade girls and kick their ass too, but who gives a ****. Your record doesnt mean anything when you are literally playing against some of the worst teams in college football. The Sunbelt does absolutely nothing and beats nobody of any real stature.

I just saw the ratings for Appalachian State's bowl game...The champs' ESPN prime time (9 eastern) game on a Saturday night, vs another conference runner up brought in 963k viewers. At least that was an uptick from the leadin SunBelt CUSA Camellia Bowl at 692k.

Liberty should be in the AAC. They have lots of monetary commitment to sports. Great facilities.

Their football team finished the season ranked 17th.
Their basketball team is poised to make NCAA tournament for 3rd year in a row and has beaten 2 SEC schools this year.
Their soccer team is ranked 15th.
Their golf team is ranked 15th.
Their softball team is getting top 25 votes.
Their women's basketball team is 17-5.
Their field hockey team was ranked 20th.

They would bring a lot to a lot of sports.

Liberty and Coastal Carolina had 2.62 million viewers. If the Sun Belt added Liberty and UAB, they could be approaching the AAC. At least in football. Of course, Liberty's athletic budget is equal to an AAC team right now and they would help the AAC get stronger in all sports.

I went backwards looking at recruiting rankings.
I went from 2022-2012...and Memphis HANDILY out-recruited Troy every season. Only 2012 was it really that close.
