UNCW heads into CAA play on the road against Delaware and then Drexel. We have lost 5 in a row and are 2-8 against D1 competition, with one of the wins coming in OT against Campbell.

Delaware, Hofstra and William and Mary appear to be the class of the conference, with Elon and UNCW sitting at the bottom of the conference. Elon and UNCW are the worst offensive teams coming into conference play with both averaging just over 60 ppg and ranked 319 and 321 in the NCAA in PPG. UNCW is actually #320 out of 353 teams in offensive efficiency and ranks behind Elon. Add to that a defensive efficiency rating that is ranked #267 and it's not hard to explain the lack of success.

The past two years a lack of success in OOC play led to a lack of success in conference play. With a 2-8 OOC records this season, nothing points to a turnaround in CAA play. Another bottom four finish in the CAA and Coach McGrath will likely only have one more season to right the ship.

Pre season polls picked UNCW to finish 9th out of 10 teams in the CAA. Unless something drastic happens, that prediction seems accurate. It would also show a consistent downward spiral as UNCW finished 6th in McGraths first year and 10th last year. Wtih players transferring out in all three of McGraths seasons at UNCW, another round of transfers could be the nail in the coffin of the McGrath era at UNCW.

Well, you know. In the good old days, you'd get some cake and just look at it. But todays selfish kids not ony want to get some cake, they want to eat it.

The correct saying is “eat your cake and have it too.” Not sure how/why it got flipped.
