I agree. I could CBS going after Big Ten at some point.

I’m surprised NBC hasn’t pushed for more games than the few ND games a year.
There is just something about a TV channel being associated with a particular brand where things aren't just the same anymore when it ends. Braves on TBS, Cubs on WGN, NBA on NBC (and the greatest intro music of all-time), SEC on CBS, Notre Dame on NBC, the Masters on CBS, etc.

I know ABC is also an OTA channel, but they have so many conference relationships that it just gets lost in the crowd for me personally. With CBS the SEC game of the week seemed exclusive and made me want to watch. They won't know the value of people around the country knowing that only an SEC game would be found on this channel at this time year after year until it's gone. That exclusivity helped build them into what they are today.

I get what your saying—-but I think that’s more nostalgia than reality. The NFL has been all over the place when it come to networks—yet it remains a huge success.

I'm not that old. I came of age in the 90's and since then the NFL has been on Fox and CBS for Sunday games, NFC on Fox and AFC on CBS. There use to be ABC Monday Night football but that's because of Disney and their ESPN reorganization and it's now ESPN Monday Night. They introduced Sunday night on NBC and Thursday nights, but they were special packages, not replacing the core Sunday packages of NFC on Fox and AFC on CBS. I wouldn't associate them with bouncing around.

In the times of "OLD" there was no FOX... And NBC was the home of the AFC while CBS was the home of the NFC... ABC (The World Wide Leader) was home to Monday Night Football and Monday Night Baseball.

Nostalgia has little to do with age. It has to do with what something was like when it became a "tradition" for an individual. It could be something that brings back memories as a kid or a time that we perceive as the "heyday" of a certain team or sport (probably because the individual was really into it at that time).

That said, you'd have to be a little older to understand how different Monday Night Football is today compared to when it was in its heyday as an prime time ABC institution with the legendary Gifford/Meridith/Cossell broacast trio. Then there was Kieth Jackson, who's voice WAS college football for the 70's, 80's, and even into the 1990's. Depsite the loss of these kind of traditional institutions in the sport---both the NFL and college football have done just fine. I have no doubt the the top league in college football will be just fine on ABC rather than CBS.

Yup! I can't remember who did the NBC pregame show but Brent Musburger and Jimmy The Greek did the CBS pregame show and Howard Cosell anchored the MNF coverage. Man those were the days...lol.

Yeah, and predictability, I guess, was a good thing... Same cast year after year with facts not hypothetical BS.

my comment about not being old wasn't about the word nostalgia, it was about me not being old enough to remember a time where the NFC wasn't on Fox and the AFC wasn't on CBS.

Used to be Bryant Gumbel, later it was Ahmad Rashad and Bob Costas.

After Fox got the NFL, John Madden called it Fox Sport, not Sports, because they had only one...03-lmfao
