James Wiseman Declares for NBA Draft, Leaves Memphis
That will help our quest for a league title with Wiseman declaring for the draft, hiring an agent and leaving Memphis.

No arguments there, but with Wiseman, they could have been elite. This makes those game a little more winnable and they could take another loss or two in league.

It just made no sense for the kid to continue to play the “student athlete” charade and go to class after the NCAA put the kaibash on his family getting paid by Penny.

Plus he and his family are now allowed to cash some big advance checks from his agency team. Call it Christmas shopping money.

Wonder if there are any more skeletons in his closet that the NCAA was still sniffing around.

Speaking strictly financially, if I am an NBA GM this draws a red flag to me, and may affect his status as #1 pick. GMs are looking for more than just raw ability.

Sorry to crush your dreams, but your high morals will never allow you to be a NBA GM. Character is only important when you are a lower round pick.

There are no signs whatsoever that he's a bad kid.

Other than having the palm open through the process. My guess is Penny’s $11,500 wasn’t the only cash that exchanged hands from the circling vultures for years.

He’ll still go #1. NBA doesn’t care a lick about anything but the fact that he’s 7’ tall with PG skills.

All this time, energy and drama for a dude who will go down in the collegiate books playing in three games. What's $11,500 divided by 3? Pennies on the dollar by NBA standards.

Solid play on words. That's a hard a way to earn that kind of money, though.

This isn't a moral thing, but a monetary thing. Many reasons for GMs to look elsewhere with the top couple picks based on lack of film and competition. Also, yea it makes him look like a quitter and not a team guy. I think that matters some, there could be a situation where he quits on his team down the road because of circumstances. What if Anthony Edwards or Obi Toppen completely blow up, it may make them think about it a bit.

Also, just look at Zion and Anthony Davis, there is a lot endorsement reasons why having a big college year you can benefit from. Could also affect his rookoe contract amount. Could lowe him money in the millions that he may have been able to get.

RE: James Wiseman Declares for NBA Draft, Leaves Memphis
You guys are some haters.

Remember Darius Bazley the kid from Cincinnati that skipped college and was the number 23 pick in last years draft. He made reportedly around 1 million dollars in that year he skipped college including endorsements.

If Wiseman was all about money I'm sure he could easily have made 5-10 million this past year if he did a similar path or played in Europe. Now, he is just going to concentrate on training. Yeah I'm sure he'll sign a few endorsements and get some advances, but no where near what he could have if he made this decision last spring/summer. I thought his tweet was professional and he seems to have some love for the Memphis Tigers.

When has Memphis and honesty ever been linked?

The NBA could care less.
