They were up late; being stuck on I-75 for three hours on the way to the airport and having to board three separate flights to get the entire team and staff to Las Vegas will present problems.

Kent State, which is playing in the same tournament, arrived in Las Vegas on Monday and practiced on Wednesday at the tournament site. Travel complications at this time of year are hardly a shock. While the late arrival on Wednesday night may explain why the players weren't ready to play, you can chalk that up to bad planning by UT's athletic department, not to bad luck.

There was a NCAA travel rule (don't know if it's still in effect) that a team had 72 hours (48/24) before and after to their 1st and last competition at an "exotic" location, i.e. Hawaii, Bahamas. Don't know if Vegas falls under that definition.
So if you arrive 48 before your 1st game then you must be on your way home within 24 hours after your last. But you can do the flip and come in 24 hours before and relax up to 48 after.
This set up so schools wouldn't abuse travel to recruit saying we're going to a Hawaiian Tournament to play 3 games, but we're going to be there for 10 days and relax on the beach.
