Are you just referring to signing more local guys or was there some friction?

I have no first hand knowledge of those relationships, but would be surprised if there was not some animosity. I know in the first couple/few years of the program BW made a conscious shift to recruit fewer local players because he had gotten some bad apples earlier and felt that, in his mind, 757 kids living close to home and all of their friends were too much trouble. That info is from a very reliable source.

And if I remember correctly, he wasn't wrong on that. Cant just go after local kids because they are good and local. They have to have the right attitude and character in addition to talent. And if they are local, all the better. Hopefully HS coaches understand that too.

LOL, BW wouldn't even recruit Hampton players. So he turned his back on a whole area. There some very good players/people over here, like Aaron Bacote from a good family. One of BW problems he wasn't truly fair to all players, you need to treat every player fair and equal. Think both of those change with RR.

They had a few guys from Pheobus and not many of them worked out despite very good talent.
