After looking at a lot 3 star athletes going to MAC schools, I think its over hyped. Beginnings to believe this rating system is too liberal. I would bet a lot of these kids on a scale of 1-5 stars, are simply 2 stars. Unless you are a 4 or 5 star (can't missed types), then you have a lot of work a head of you.

yep, entire college recruit rating and class ranking system is a joke for any player below a 3 star its all meaningless and not predictive of any player or team success.

Most of the star ranking system has to do with a mixture of exposure and explosion, and if you play for a small school, or lack some elite level athleticism, you're getting sent down to the mid-pots. I genuinely don't think OLmen are evaluated at all past the top 25 or so because there are so damn many.

Again I am with you PaulJ, if you did that, there would be nothing to talk about.

It sure is. When I first started doing a Toledo site with Scout, and then Rivals, there were a lot less 3 star ratings given out to players. Toledo would normally get 4-5 per class, as well as a few others in the MAC. That was it. You really had to earn it.

Now, it appears that anyone that hasn't been reviewed by the experts at that recruiting service automatically gets a 2 star rating and anyone they actually look at gets at least a 3 star rating. It's becoming ridiculous.

You always hope to get the kids that played well in high school but were late developers physically. Very hard to find the Cody Thompson or Bruce G types - but they are out there. Also - find the guys that are well spoken and disciplined to start with. Can never tell who will want to compete once they get to college and realize everyone else is just as skilled and fast as they are - but they are willing to work harder and learn more.
