By, all research, I have done does knot look good. But it is a environment and time slot that neither team has faced. My Heart Says the Blazers will pull it out my mind says Appy state by Statistics wins the game, good thing, I am knot a betting man I would put to App. The Blazers have had two weeks to heel and show a game. Either way Appy, is pissed dang man they beat South Carolina and North Carolina. Reminds me when USF thought they deserved a National Champ Game. Either way, Go Blazers Bring a non expected win back to the Homeland of Bama. Go Blazers.

RE: UAB Know your UAB bowl foe: Appalachian State
The line has moved down to -16.

Seems like UAB has a solid defense and an offense that struggles at times. Who are the players to watch for UAB?

For App on offense #12 Thomas at QB and #3 Evans at RB are the play makers. App lost its WR1 three games ago for the season, but #5 Hennigan has been reliable since then.

On defense #48 Taylor at DL gets good pressure and #24 ADG is one of the best LBers in the conference, likely a draft pick this year.

I think UABs defense keeps it closer than the 16.

For starters, it depends on who is QB for UAB. Johnston passes it more and throws it deeper, Hopkins is more of the ball control QB.

Will Spencer Brown at RB get most of the carries or will others like Lucious Stanley & Jermaine Brown carry the load?

UAB's defense is legit.

Will the field position help UAB or will UAB turn it over leading to short drives?

At this point in time its a toss up on who will start at QB. Both were practicing but coach will keep it to himself on who will start.

Moll is who you should watch on defense. He is in my opinion the best to the ball LB or best overall LB in CUSA and most of the G5. Also Marino on the DL is a load to carry but UAB fans have a love hate with him. He gets a lot of stupid penalties. Both our jack linebackers are studs at getting to the QB. Secondary has been hurt all year so we have been playing the plug and play game all season there but it has worked out for us.

RE: UAB Know your UAB bowl foe: Appalachian State
Pulled up your defensive stats, a couple things jump out.

UAB is only giving up ~100 yards rushing per game, App averages 230/game, strength versus strength here.

UAB averages 1 fumble recover a game with more than 2 fumbles forced per game, that is impressive.

TOP advantage looks to play a big role here as you average four more minutes than the opponent.

Strangest stat for you guys is 27 4th quarter points for the year. I assume you're up in those games and on cruise control.

When we are up in the 4th quarter we tend to drain the clock.

In the games that we have lost we weren't able to score in pretty much any quarter.

No release on a position vs position breakdown as of yet. I could go to the rosters, But, I need a breakdown on a health report who is ready to play and where each is at. I, Understand Appalachian State, Is good but they are Still Sun Belt, But, they are top 20, Until I get a updated Health Report, I have no pick in this Game, If the Blazers are Healthy, I will choose them, If knot, It will be a get ready for next year game which, I don't want to see, I see two things The Blazers make their year with a win and gets the mind correct. or Appalachian runs the points with a beet down to prove their worth. Go Blazers for Me. I would be ready for the Early punches. to set a Tone.

Hes a troll acting a role. Knot for real.

Thoughts on the bowl game. UABs defense proved to be legit against Tennessee. I wasnt sure prior to that, in spite of their outstanding stats, due to the horrific strength of schedule. But the defense manhandled Tennessees line. I was impressed, although the UAB offense wet the bed.

That said, for some reason FAU completely manhandled our defense. No sacks. Only two tackles for loss. Whipped UABs ass after the first series, in a manner we hadnt experienced all year. Little QB pressure. Didnt look like themselves at the line of scrimmage. Never found the rhythm of the game. FAU offensive line attacked and dominated and their Qb totally commanded the game.

Frankly, Kiffin outcoached our staff. So did Helton at WKU. Southern Miss loss, harder to say. Freshman QBs first start.

Bill Clark is fantastic but I think he is still learning to adapt when he encounters top notch, innovative coaching. The mad scientist at FAU coached circles around his team. But Clark seems to be a rapid learner.

Also, not surprisingly, FAU dominated the UAB Oline, and shut down our ground game, but so did Alabama State, Akron, WKU, Tennessee, and Southern Miss. The right side of the Oline has struggled mightily most games against better Dline competiton. To be fair Akron probably doesnt count based on how they sold out to load the box.

Johnston is a good QB, but it seemed to me that any game where the opponent could pressure him he struggled mightily with rapid reads and quick decisions. Yet he threw the ball very well against Texas A&M as a freshman. He regressed a bit this year, in bigger games. Frankly, I dont think he fully trusted our Oline this year whenever he faces better competiton and so he forced his throws. 3 first half INTs and a fumble at UT. Worst first half Ive ever seen a QB play. His left tackle didnt play the UT game. I think he walked into the stadium feeling like a marked man. He wasnt wrong, and left on crutches.

But if johnston is healthy and confident and if the line protects him, it will be a competitive game. If not, or if the freshman QB plays,’then expect something closer to the FAU outcome. UAB is young, and about a year, and two significant player upgrades on the Oline, away from national competitiveness.

But Bill Clark was embarrassed on national TV by the FAU performance, and they've had multiple weeks to prepare and heal. I would not want to be the coach on the other sideline facing an angry, embarrassed Bill Clark who had weeks to prepare.

I get what your saying about motivation after the FAU game, but APPs also going to be extremely motivated, not only to finish in the top 20, something that’s never happened with any sunbelt school, but maybe more important, the players got the coach they wanted, they really like Clark and want to play well for him to get his career as a HC off to a great start. Honestly, with all the time off, and both teams really wanting to play well the first quarter could be really ugly for both teams, wouldn’t surprise me to see a lot of mental mistakes, turnovers etc, might take awhile before we start seeing some quality football.
