Just too many Q4 games; play half of those against Q3 teams instead, and it would be acceptable. Hopefully we will going forward.

I've been fairly impressed with Hunter and Tulane. Not like "oh, they are good" but definitely "wow, that's way better than they have been." They have played a poor schedule, that's a given. But they have played poor schedules a lot and not gone 8-2.

This is a good point. ECU has also played a poor schedule. They've gone 3-7. Hard not to be impressed with Hunter and Tulane so far.

He's at least gotten them in the conversation of being a Q2 game for the other teams in the league ... so whatever he is doing .. keep doing it. Last year they were a Q4 game ...

Finalists for best HC’s should be confined to AAC teams that make the NCAA tournament.

Normally yes ... but if Tulane somehow makes it to the NIT or something like that ... you HAVE to put Hunter in the conversation. He was handed one of the worst teams in the country ...

Arbitrary. Why not just to AAC teams that finish 1st in the AAC?

Coach of the year is normally awarded for pure coaching...So if Wiseman doesn't get suspended and Lester doesn't get hurt he isn't in the running.

Yeah, no. I'd agree with Penny being the front-runner at this point, but when the guy is suspended because you yourself cheated, you don't get bonus points for it.

The context of the "cheating" has been well chronicled. The NCAA relies on fans of opponent schools to accept the NCAA's arbitrary and capricious verdicts and opaque processes when the result harms a rival. It is part of their divide and conquer strategy. Do not fall for it.

He broke the rules as they are written. Therefore he cheated.

You may disagree with the rules, but you can't disagree that he cheated. He did.

I am not rehashing the situation.

You are doing exactly what the NCAA wants. Congrats.

lol and you are doing what a homer fan who thinks they’re above the rules wants.

Hunter took over an empty cupboard coming off of a 4-27 season.

Hunter means more to Tulane than Penny does to Memphis.

Tubby didn't build SH@T.
Penny had to restock Memphis with talent...it had Div 2/Div 3 talent last season.

He deserves credit for recruiting talent (it did not occur in a vacuum) and somehow winning with the youngest team in all D-1 and without two starters (one a potential #1 NBA pick and the other leading in minutes played until his injury).

This is the reason Penny deserves it at this point.

Or simply, a basic rule was broken.

Whether you agree with the rule or not is completely irrelevant.

He definitely broke the rule...

But saying he cheated is a bridge too far since when he made the payment he was not governed by the rule.

Hunter has two players back from last years dunleavy team with only 1 playing any minutes last year. . . So yeah I think hunter built something. If Tulane goes to the NIT he should be the coach of the year. From being around 300 in the country last year to in the top 100 in one year would be [/align]absurd.

Nobody said anything about Tubby. Hunter inherited a much worse situation than Penny.

Memphis was set up for success. Good facilities, large passionate fan base, and an excellent recruiting base. All you needed was a coach set up to take advantage of that.
