We do not have to add a 12th member when the waiver expires or ever to keep the CCG. At the end of the waiver if the rule hasn't been changed, we will have to play uneven divisions. Not desirable but better than adding a mouth to feed.

Does everyone understand we do not have to add a 12th member at the end of the waiver period?

lol should have read to the end of the thread before posting my last reply.

Apparently it needs to be repeated on every page.

But nobody has explained how you're gonna convince half the teams to play 7 conference games.

14 pages of debate and the truth is, we will do whatever ESPN tells us to do. The MWC just pissed on the giant and I doubt it plays out well for them.

Two.

You only have to have two of eleven teams play either 7 or 9 conference games.
Look at this year's schedule and take UConn out. Three west teams and five east teams are short that game. Schedule a replacement cross divisional game for Tulane, Houston, and Navy. Now all six west teams have five divisional and three crossdivisional, and three east teams have four and four. Either those two remaining east teams stay at four and three, or you step them up to four and four, with two west teams having five and four.

It also takes more shuffling to get home and away balance right.

Even simpler, you just have 2 teams in the short division designate one OOC game as conference play.

I have advocated buying out BYU's fcs game. They already play one AAC team every year, we buy out the FCS and send the other team short a game to provo. Its exploitation but byu in general has teams comparable to the AAC and a hell of a lot better then UConn's. We can work with them on the schedule to give them a nice November home game.

Not a bad thought, if they don't take it Army might consider same offer of buying out one of their 2 FCS games. Especially if its a home game for them.

Anyone bragging about how the MWC is slightly more of a have not than the AAC is missing the bigger issue that we are fighting over crumbs while there’s a 6 course meal inside.

Until the playoff expands and the G5 teams are even apart of the national picture it will stay that way.

Ehhhh. They arent really missing anything. The situation you refer to is old news as it got locked in for the entire 12 year CFP period. The key for the AAC is to spend this 12 years separating from the other non-contract conferences and create the leverage needed to have an elevated status when the current CFP deal ends. So little steps like the bigger TV deal, dramatically outperforming the other non-power conferences, and consistently grabbing the access bowl are all accomplishments worth celebrating. They are all part of the quest toward a larger goal.

"A weak sister that adds no value" is nothing more than a "red herring."

The AAC Commissioner has made it abundantly clear that no school with a weak program would have any chance to be added.

Beyond that, ESPN would resist adding a weak program, and their resistance would be a major deterrent.

The selections of Navy and Wichita State illustrate the point that any future additions will be schools that are very likely to strengthen the conference.

.
Even if only two AAC teams would have to play 9 conference games, that's going to make it harder to schedule 2 P5 teams, or traditional rivals, some seasons. It could also give some teams an unfair advantage or disadvantage in the CCG and might also reduce attendance.

That must have been a mis-reading on my part, if you agree that no weak sister will be added.

The precise relation between a "weak sister" and a "red herring" can be fuzzy, given that they're both loosely-defined metaphors.

One thing's for sure: Not all "weak sisters" are "red herrings," and not all "red herrings" are "weak sisters."

Indeed, one might be hard-put to find many published sentences in the English language that have employed both terms.

RE: FOX WINS MOUNTAIN WEST RIGHTS FROM ESPN
the information on the full mwc tv deal is out

270 million dollar 6 years deal (total for all parts)-- 45 mil per year (10mil off the original report)..that would be $3.75mil if it was split evenly, it isnt..boise getting more (lets just say 3.5mil)

slit between fox and cbs sports....looking at the details its a home run for boise, and bad deal for the rest
23 football games, 32 basketball games on a cbs network (mostly cbssn, 5 on football friday), cbsn has the option to take up to 10 more football...23 football games, and the option to pick "up to 32" basketball games on a fox network (mostly local FSN channels, 5 will be fs1 friday football games)

this is where boise comes out a huge winner, fs1 or fox main must air every boise home game, and .there are already talks about fs1 creating pregame shows for boise game

other details- atleast 3 basketball or football must be on cbs main...1 will the conference championship game for basketball
