RE: Dudley: Where UAB stands ahead of early signing period
I love the size. the things that struck me are
1.)how the signings seem to address needs-OL, LB more DBs,
2.) Don't know about speed or quick feet, but the OL's look prototypical. Good height, good weight, a redshirt year and the weight room and they have the frame to succeed
3. I'm not worried about the number of recruiting stars. If my memory serves me correctly the Steel Shield was not a highly rated group, but by the time they changed some positions they were monsters
4. Comparative recruiting-If we're in on kids with App State and winning a fair number thats a pretty good sign. They have built a bodacious program without the "highly rated" classes

Yeah both got size, still interesting to watch how reeves build his inside group from Williams. We got good pieces don’t see how we carve out reps for them all. I think we kick griffin out back to DB(star hopefully) and grab a JuCo as we need some size there. Even as it stands now Merrick could be 2nd team easily.

That’s some of it

QBs gotta learn to throw the ball away, take a sack and not force things. Gotta show we have a short game at some point this season amongst most offensive problems.

Bryson Lucero is our QB of the future. The problem is will he have a coach who can teach him how to be a QB. Someone to teach him the right times to throw it away, take the sack, and go to our short game. Currently we have 1 route QBs but I cant put all the blame on them if they aren't being taught. But I agree we need a short game/RPO. Its become a must in college ball.

That wasn’t all don’t wanna be a troll just my observation. I like all three QBs I like the slow depth build a lot. Would try to blueshirt a QB this class just take a chance on a local guy for depth purposes only.

Nah your good I was agreeing with you just adding my .02 cents....which is just that, .02 cents.04-cheers

04-cheers

fyi app state got at least 5 players from alabama in their roster ....and a very good qb

Can’t speak for us all but I like way this class is setting up. Looking at the Defense the two weakest spots got better DL and ILB. Two of the three stronger spots got better OLB, Saf.

Offensively glad we took just one RB, and TE. Glad we got the three young OL all of those guys are impressive.

But I will not be truely impressed until we get the QB spot more depth. And completely restock the WR spot. I think we way we’ve handle the WR spot is the detriment of the team. Need some speed and hone run hitters on offense.

I’m pretty happy with the class. My issue remains with the lack of skill players.

I like that we got some HS olinemen who were fairly sought after(before they shut down their recruitment), instead of going for filler Juco guys. You’d think they’d get redshirted but I think they could come in and be ahead of a lot of guys. Flournoy is a much better get than the commit we didn’t sign.

We do now, going into next year. Still could use a Juco Qb that’s had a full year, or yr and a half of experience to come battle those 3.

Ok look at it this way when u saw or heard of the dumbest coaching blunder this season any team, this season that coach had the option of A playing some kid name Mac. B playing hurt guy little brother. C playing the greatest coach lol in the history of the game grandson. Depth

And.....

Just about every position has a ratio of upperclassmen to underclassmen except one position (WR) literally not a sophomore or freshman on the roster scholarship wise.

That leaves no guys for Hop and Lucy to grow with just older guys to speed them along gone in two years

We have 10 upperclassmen returning on the OL to just 2 underclassmen with the three new signees and one commit guy.

Yes, they are tops in 7A in Alabama.

Has happened just in the last few years under a coach who some here feel should be the OC at UAB.

Seems like though to me that they get some players the Mountain Brook / Hewitt Trussville way.

Regardless, players from the top level in Alabama are good.
