Duquesne
Anyone else see that Duquesne is still undefeated? They've moved up in KenPom from #110 in preseason to #60. Can't wait to play them this weekend!

I'm really glad that this coaching staff put together such a challenging schedule this season.

RE: Duquesne
Just to put a guess out there, we could be undefeated right now and our NET rankings still would be over 100 if not closer to 125.

Meaning that the schedule strength at the beginning of the season for us and our conference mates have been predetermined to force us to get at most 1 tourney bid with that being the winner of the conference tournament.

I doubt it would be over 100 with road wins at UK & Texas and a home win over Memphis.

Somehow four CUSA teams made it into the top 100. None of them are undefeated.

Utah Valley is #230. They are 1-7 since winning at UAB.

A loss to a team that played UK close at Rupp is a good loss, even on our home floor. I will fight you to the death, to not be upset about this loss.

UAB is top-25 if they're undefeated right now.

Yeah they are and it's not even debatable. The deck may be stacked against us a bit, but it's not to the level most want to act like it is.

Same thing happens every year for CUSA teams.

If you do happen to have a decent RPI the time the conference season starts it drops & drops & drops & drops due to the weak conference rpi or whatever they call it this year.

RE: Duquesne
How many CUSA team have won at Kentucky and Texas and beat a team like Memphis OOC in the same year? The teams that have been left out in recent years tripped up on RPI laneminds at the end of the season.

You just need a few teams hot at the same time. Right now UTEP, WKU, and LT are all doing pretty well. A lot of CUSA teams are stepping it up. Charlotte and UTEP in particular have now gotten themselves back to respectable levels.

The unfortunate reality is that teams like UAB, MTSU, Marshall, and even ODU to an extent have dropped off into the gutter. Simply aren't winning winnable games. These teams have been our NCAA reps the past 5 years and they're averaging a 224 net rating right now this year. Just no one's been completely consistent in this league other than maybe La. Tech the past few years in MBB.

Current ratings:

#60 UTEP
#85 WKU
#90 La. Tech
#108 North Texas
#128 Charlotte
#162 ODU
#171 FIU
#178 Rice
#210 UAB
#242 Marshall
#270 FAU
#273 UTSA
#279 Southern Miss
#281 MTSU

RE: Duquesne
Playing 60 85 and 90 teams over and over & over still won't get you in the tournament.

Last year's pod play fiasco pretty much made that apparent.

I liked the pod play. It gives the teams multiple goals and will hopefully help CUSA get two teams in NCAA.
I liked playing the better teams last year in pod#1. It gives the fans and teams something to think about.

I think that it gets down to CUSA winning eye test OOC games. We all need to invest more into our programs if we want to get multiple bids.

The pod system may help teams on the bubble.

I think we are saying the same thing kind of.

If CUSA sucks in OOC that leads to a very weak SOS which brings down every school in CUSA.
