I feel badly for Harvey. He can't sniff the court.

Dane needs to accept responsibility for this. Undisciplined team.

This is a failure now for the team. Not going to win with 19 TO, 50% FT shooting and 22 fouls. Dane need not step up and get this team refocused for CAA play. Knight sets the tone and he has regressed to playing the ways of last year in this game dumb fouls and no leadership.

Neither of the last two losses were to bad teams, but we did not show discipline, when needed, in either game.
Way, WAY too many turnovers and no real set plays to run late in the game.

We pass the ball too much. A lot of our turn overs came on unnecessary passes.

I’m not sure what to think. That was just a lack of hustle and focus. BTW, our vaunted defense isn’t stopping anyone.

For post game interview the Coach happy with the effort and trying to make a positive spin on the overall OCC schedule. Concedes too many TO but trying to see the headlights.

No stats feed available for ESPN or CBS plus none available after the game to Jay and Charlie - not a good way to run a facility that host the Tournament.

Really really sloppy bad game today. This team needs to learn how to fight through adversity, any little thing goes wrong and the team has a mini collapse. I really wish Luke got more minutes tonight. He's a natural leader in the backcourt. Good time for Christmas Break to come.

Btw: anyone know what Hamilton's tech was for?

Yeah, a bunch of us have been saying that all year. I can't comprehend why something so obvious to most of us isn't obvious to the staff --- and don't counter that by asking how much coaching experience we have versus them.....basketball (and how to win at it) wasn't invented yesterday. (As SoCal Frank said: basketball is a paint game).

I am extremely worried that the lack of playing time will discourage Mehkel and that he will enter the transfer portal for next year (and he probably wouldn't mind being closer to southern California climes, either). A game like today (with Nate in serious foul trouble) would have been a great opportunity for him to get some playing time.

Headlights? Do you mean "highlights"? Anyway, I thought that Fischer's postgame interview with Jay was weird. Fischer was very upbeat and said what a great college basketball game it was. Well, Jay and Charlie didn't think so and, based on their announcing, neither did I. As others have posted, 19 turnovers and terrible free throw shooting are not going to win many games.

What started out as a great OOC schedule, with no bad losses, has turned to crud very quickly these past two games. I'm hopeful the team will regain focus once the CAA slate starts.

RE: St. Francis Game
You shouldn't lose games where you shoot 50% FG and 40% three pointers...but one way to do it is commit 19 turnovers that lead to ten points off turnovers for St.Francis, and shoot 50% from the foul line while they shot 75%.

We played well when we held on to the ball but we didn't do it enough.

Time to regroup after the holiday facing three CAA games on the road.

We've all but stopped pick and rolls. That used to be our bread and butter and would've torched SHU with that today. What we do now is pass the ball around the perimeter and look to either feed Nate inside or look for Luke or Miguel to shoot a 3. No other guard is willing to shoot midrange or 3s.

No way to tell, but I think Dane won a couple this season that Tony's squad *may* have dropped. But, I think Tony's squad would've beaten St. Joes and SFU.

Tony's 2019-2020 team, I believe, would've been much more competitive. Our current crew seems unmotivated at times and is nowhere near as fundamentally sound.

I do like that Dane stresses defense but I have a feeling, just a feeling, that he isn't willing to chew a guy out. I certainly didn't hear him do that today and I was 3 rows behind him. We don't have a true leader on the court. That is crystal clear. That leaves us with undisciplined, careless play, and I don't see us trending up. The fact that he appeared even somewhat pleased by today's performance is a serious red flag to me. I needed to hear him say guys didn't protect the ball, didn't take advantage of mismatches, didn't D up shooters, and practices are about to get dreadful.

Tony is gone and I'm 100% pulling for Dane and our players. We are where we are so let's just hope the last two games wake this team up, a floor general emerges, and we are prepared to compete in the CAA.

RE: St. Francis Game
I choose not to be upset about the game to game performances. The schedule has been brutal. A key player is hurt. These guys have never played together before. The coaching staff is new. The head coach is a rookie.

They sit at 8-5 with the first part of the season being over. That’s a fine job!

Now, it gets interesting. The second part of the season. The CAA season. Do they go 10-8, better or worse? Tony was fired after going 10-8 last year. Frankly, that’s all I care about because we are now all about winning championships, or so we’ve been told.

BTW, is there a Gold Rush game this year?

Think he's putting St Francis on a pedestal as a great team. He was happy with our energy compared to St Joes. He thought we could have executed better, but overall happier than vs St Joes. I think a lot here just disagree with his assessment.

I mean he clearly thinks St Francis is better than I do. That definitely wasn't a good loss. It was a sloppy, undisciplined loss against a team we should have beat.

I share the surprise about the postgame interview. But, we did play with far more energy today (which may have been Dane’s focus). Just very sloppy.

Knight in foul trouble spells doomsday for us.

Blair consistently gets beat off the dribble. Seemingly every time.

I still want to see the Towers consistently touching the ball inside. Why is that so hard?

High beta in our range of outcomes in CAA league play. I think we could win the regular season with 12-14 wins (especially given how much we’ve played on the road...we should not feel intimidated by CAA road games) or we could finish with 6-8 wins. Looking forward to it!

I hope Scott is healthy.

I thought the same but then reflected and decided that the players going into the Xmas break to see family needed a positive spin on two horrible games. While you cannot disagree the effort was better than St Joe's the QUALITY of play plus focus of the players was dreadful with 19 TO and 50% FT shooting.

IF we lose to Elon which is truly horrible then Dane gets 3 demerits and one less year of a free pass to build the program.

Dane did a good job building a roster. We obviously want him to lead us to a winning season but we need to have realistic expectations. The undeserved praise he received earlier this season for the greatest start in the history of basketball shouldn't be countered by undeserved *dire* criticism if we drop games we should win. What I want to see is improvement...haven't seen that the past two games. He can earn his bones if the team gets it together, start playing clean basketball, and looks ready to compete by March.
