UConn had the runaway biggest budget in the AAC. They got abused in football by everyone for 2.5 years running.

Budget is nothing if leadership doesn't know WTF they are doing.

UConn foosball....sorry, that's an oxymoron....

implying budgeted $$$ is meaningless vs. drawing the hire????.....ummmmmmmmkay, if you say so....

you guys dove into the shallow end by over-investing in foosball and not joining the BE crew that left the nest....

we know we're ****** based on geo alone.....you guys whiffed that part of the equation too....

man, in ~5 yrs, this convo won't mean dick when the final phase of realignment is realized....

I went to Tulane from 2006 to 2011. When I went to school, I was convinced that you did from the athletics POV. You had a bottom 4 budget and top 3 results. Unfortunately, you had your crater year right as pieces were moving.

USM should go Indy. I don't see what CUSA does for your institution now that everyone you want to play isn't there.

lol....and what does the Ack do for yours.....

#sameFknBoatSinking

We're able to poach good Sun Belt coaches to rescue what previously was a dumpster fire of an AD. To understand the difference, you have to consider what this program under Cowen looked like. You guys used to trashcan us in all sports...

You're right on most of this. The exception I am going to take is with the Big East situation. Tulane values UH, SMU, and Navy on the schedule. The Catholic privates hated us even though we academically would be a relative asset.

Tulane is just a historic FBS program that fits nowhere in the modern layout.

Time will tell if our paths cross again in a few years. There definitely is a chance.

Edit: you think Tulane should have sacrificed football for basketball?

Going Independent is only tenable if you have a massive fan base and/or some serious financial backing in order to facilitate scheduling. We were playing 4 home games a year in our last days as an Indy. Nobody in their right mind wants to go back to that.

Also note the only two state universities that play Independent won 3 games combined this year and usually dwell among the poorest performers in FBS. That’s probably not a coincidence.

I could see a situation in the future where being Indy becomes practical again if a handful of schools simultaneously decide they might do better on their own, which would add scheduling flexibility across the board. In the current environment, though, that would be suicide for all but a select few institutions.

to the edit, no....what i've found ironic is how those that portrayed the varying version of 'status' was always irreverent vs. value and never worthy in the 'coffer'....hence, UConn in response

I'm in the camp we'll all see playing for the bell more than this one-timer moving forward....it's just a matter how the boob tube and Geo $$$ play out....'

Thank you!. Ive been shouting that for years. Some people have finally started to catch on. Maybe having a Tulane graduate point it out will help others pause and think for a change.

I honestly HATE conference BS. I hate having to root for teams to win BUT NOT TOO MUCH.

I am convinced the next set of moves might be what breaks things across all of CFB.

I see it the other way around: what’s going to break next at the top will dictate the next set of moves for the rest of us.

Not at all. I will be back and loving amateur college football again when it’s just “the rest of us” again. Any of you brainiacs thinking we could ever compete with the Alabama’s of the world are just simply alien abductee material. It ain’t ever happening again. Period. Better they go on and leave “the rest of us”.
And “the rest of us” will include the twin sisters up north.
