Bowl Game ...
Reality usually bites, so let's imagine that when we play Tulane in the bowl game that everything goes our way. Everyone is healthy, the calls go our way, fumbles bounce our way, players have the best game of the season in general, and we go up by a rather comfortable score early.

Questions:

1) What would Hop (Bower part 2) do?
- Keep the heat up until it's a real a$$ kicking and let everyone play that has a uniform in the 4th
- Be nice guy and pull back not wanting to embarrass what may be an ally to help us get in the AAC if the opportunity ever comes up ?

2) What would you do?

RE: Bowl Game ...
He'll do the second, but not because of an opportunity, just because he's relatively conservative in how he views the game. This will inevitably lead to a Tulane comeback win.

I'd pound them as hard as I could. The best way to prove your worth is to show your strength. No one's going to be mad because you beat them in football, but they certainly won't want to partner with you if you seem weak and add little value.

I’m just glad we play in January so he can’t pull out “You kinda have to choose whether to put your attention toward the early signing day or game prep” like he did last time.

Extreme boredom combine with wishful thinking is a dangerous combination. 04-cheers But it is interesting to see it seems everyone seems to have similar thoughts. 07-coffee3

I refuse to fall into this trap. I am fully prepared to go to my Tulane's friend house and get ragged for 3 hours and then go home and cry into my pillow.

Does anyone see Tulane actually being an ally to get us into the AAC? I don't see it. The only positive for them that I can see is that it would be a short trip for one of their conference games. But seeing how we historically have dominated the previous series, I don't see our close proximity to each other being worth it to them.

No we have nothing to offer but a proud football tradition. We are a poor school, with average academics, and a sub par athletic program.

They wouldn’t want us just as they wouldn’t want South Alabama. Bout the same except USA probably haS more money and support than we do.

Tulane doesn't have a single rivalry game on the schedule in most seasons. Unfortunately, Tulane doesn't call shots.

We should just play you at the end of every season for Rivalry Week. I am pretty sure that both schools have some dumb series that should be dropped for an actual trophy game...

RE: Bowl Game ...
I totally think Tulane would support us in an AAC bid (I’ve actually heard as much, but haven’t independently verified). In a conference where they’re flying everyone everywhere, a quick bus trip across sports would be welcome, and we’ve historically bought more tickets to (and beer at) our games at Tulane than Tulane has. Playing teams in closer proximity is good for press coverage, too, because people naturally give more of a sh*t.

I honestly believe at least 4 AAC schools (Tulane, Memphis, Houston, ECU) would be on our side IF we could position ourselves to be a finalist. That’s a damned big if at this point, though.

Agreed. I wouldnt be surprised if Smu, or even Ucf, supported Usm too.

I won’t pretend to know anyone at the former CUSA schools personally, but everything I’ve heard from people close is that not one wants us. They see us how we see La Monroe. The biggest issue was back in the 2000s, we had relationships with basically zero presidents of other universities. Martha never befriended any of them, so when they left, we had no one fighting for us. That hasn’t changed in ten years.

UConn had the runaway biggest budget in the AAC. They got abused in football by everyone for 2.5 years running.

Budget is nothing if leadership doesn't know WTF they are doing.

I went to Tulane from 2006 to 2011. When I went to school, I was convinced that you did from the athletics POV. You had a bottom 4 budget and top 3 results. Unfortunately, you had your crater year right as pieces were moving.

USM should go Indy. I don't see what CUSA does for your institution now that everyone you want to play isn't there.
