Hurd Announces Reorganization, Staff Promotions
Quote:DENVER – Western Athletic Conference Commissioner Jeff Hurd today announced a reorganization of the WAC staff, which includes two promotions, several role and title changes, and the hiring of a new employee, effective Jan. 1, 2020.
Hope Shuler has been promoted to Senior Woman Administrator, and will move out of media relations to head the conference's championships. She will also serve as the sport administrator for volleyball, women's basketball and softball. Michael Navarrette, who is currently the media relations intern, has been promoted to Media Relations Assistant.
Staff role and title changes include Chris Thompson, Vicky Eggleston and Eric Danner. Thompson, who was elevated to assistant commissioner last summer, will move into the role previously held by Shuler and will oversee the day-to-day operations of the league's media relations and social media. Eggleston, who is the Assistant Commissioner of Creative Services, will add marketing to her responsibilities. Danner, who is the Executive Director of Broadcasting, is now the sport supervisor for tennis.
In addition, the conference has hired Miranda Martin as the media relations intern for the remainder of the academic year. A 2018 graduate of Winston-Salem State, she currently serves as a member of the Mile High City Hype Squad for the Denver Nuggets and also spent nine months as a marketing intern at Wake Forest.
