ECU edges out Tulsa for a last-minute signing day surprise.
Henry Garrison - 6'7" 275lbs - DE - Nassau CC
"East Carolina picked up a much-needed commitment and some immediate help from the junior college ranks along the defensive line heading into signing day.
Henry Garrison, a 6-foot-7, 270-pound defensive end from Nassau Community College in New York, has committed to ECU and signed Wednesday.
Garrison picked up scholarship offers from Tulsa and East Carolina in a span of three days in early December and visited both schools this past week. Garrison, originally from Palisades, N.Y., made his last visit to ECU on Sunday.
Garrison actually played quarterback and tight end earlier in his football career, only to gain 50-plus pounds and be moved to the defensive side of the ball in junior college. Garrison originally attended Tappan Zee high School in New York before winding up at Nassau. The defensive lineman doesn’t have the biggest junior college stat line, but his film is impressive. He can move for a long, rangy defensive end, and his combination of athleticism and size make him a potential difference-maker. Garrison has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
He becomes the seventh defensive line commit of the Pirates’ 2020 recruiting class, and the second junior college recruit at the position, joining Louisburg defensive lineman Elijah Robinson."
