SBR - Cowboys pull a McGee today
The Cowboys will kickoff both halves today against the Rams.
The Cowboys win the toss and instead of “defering”, they said they will kick off. The Rams then get to choose the receive the kickoff at the start of the 2nd half because the Cowboys didn’t use the word “defer” when they won the coin toss. Lol

I guess Jason Garrett took coaching lessons from McGee.
How difficult is the coin toss?

That can't be right. If you win the toss and choose to kick, you receive in the second half. The only way you can kick twice is if the other team wins and defers, and then you choose to kick, leaving them the choice to receive in the second half (this is what McGee did); or you win and defer, the other team chooses to receive, then you come out in the second half and choose to kick again. There's got to be more to this story.

In this case, the Cowboys chose their option to kick in the 1st half.
The other team chose their option to receive in the 2nd half.

The Cowboys' correct response should have been defer to the 2nd half.

Okay, I just read an article. Dak mucked it up, and the replay officials in New York called in and fixed the situation. Looks like he changed his mind or something. What a mess.

i think that is the way to go if you got a great defense and terrible offense ,,that way the first time you get the ball on every half you maybe close them the 25 yards line

Might actually have been something we should have thought about in a few games.

RE: SBR - Cowboys pull a McGee today
Back when I played club football at USA, we had a game where our capt "deferred to the other team" exact words were "we defer to them"- meaning we'll take 2nd half choice which is common but refs took it as we defer to the other team having the choice, we'll of course they chose to take the ball both halves. I'd write it down to bad wording by Cowboys & bad interpretation by the refs but given the level they're at, it shouldn't have happened for either group to misinterpret or misspeak.
