People have to be interviewed to say "after a national search". The fact we turned down a former SEC HC to hire Silverfield is the message.

Didn't Odom leave us at the altar last time for Mizzou? He didn't want to be there then, we don't want him now. I'm glad to hear that Silverfield will be the new coach. I'd love to see some of the player reactions to this.

Our AD & Odom are likely midwest buddies so he gave him a fair opportunity to overwhelm in an interview. Probably nothing more than that.

So, Silverfield it is.

He's certainly paid his dues and seems to have the respect of his players and peers.

He's got a ready-made team for next year as long as he doesn't screw it up.

It'll be years 2 and 3 that tell us what he can really do - and hopefully it's a lot.

Great hire! People don't understand the impact of this hire. Everywhere he goes people love him. He is responsible for our highest rated recruits. He hasn't had a recruit decommit yet after the old regime left. I suspect he was putting alot of work behind the scene. Coach Norvell probably is going to flame out in 3 years without him.

Looking forward to long term stability at the top for Football and Men's Basketball. Will be a great help to recruiting for years toi come. Players will know that the coach will be here as long as they are here.

Great news, hope he can continue what we have rolling and that he will be a long term hire. Really like that he's stated he is not interested in using our program as a stepping stone. Not naive that he would never leave for another opportunity, but at least it's nice to hear him say it bluntly up front as a possibility.
