Yeah. I had no feelings one way or the other on this, but after I saw a video of him doing the tomahawk chop at an FSU basketball game, I'm of the opinion that he shouldn't stick around for the bowl game.
Don't get me wrong, I don't wish him failure at FSU, but I won't lose sleep if he flames out and they fire him in 2 years.
Yeah...
That makes you wonder how genuine he was when he talked about Memphis or if it was all a show.
Norvell genuinely liked Memphis and enjoyed his time here. There was nothing fake about that. Again, a major reason why he turned down other P5 jobs in prior years. He genuinely liked it here, had a good thing going and was only willing to leave for a job that he felt truly gave him a chance for a NC.
read today's Daily Memphian.
They published a letter from Norvell thanking Memphis for the epxeriences he had while coaching here.
Then they published another letter.
From a Memphis fan...and after you read that one...get out the tissues. Real terar-jerker.
I was ticked to find out that Norvell had talked to FSU during our last bye week.
After reading those two letters...I feel better about the situation...and wish Mike nothing but the best moving forward.

Please...
If the X you just left had won tickets for a 7 day top of the line trip to (Insert your perfect locale here) knowing your new guys is broke as hell (But has tons of potential) and you know you the new guy won't be able to afford that trip for a couple of years.
Norvell could be a at least few years (if ever) before he gets a chance at another bowl with this level of prestige.
nah..... That scenario doesn't work. Let's get real.
The New Guy is not broke as hell. Truth is, New Guy has millions more dollars, and he just got rid of his X so he could get with me. New Guy courted me with the promise of more money, better facilities, maxed out adoration and better talent.... So I left the Old very NICE Guy (who offered me lots more money, btw) I left the Old Feller with all those bright new visions dancing in my head. I cried a little. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do--but it had to be done.
There's also the fact that the New Guy doesn't want me hanging out with the Old Guy. Furthermore, New Guy needs me to hit the ground running--- recruiting top talent for his organization while convincing the talent and workers that are already employed there that I'm totally dedicated to New Guy. (Many didn't want me at all and have their supreme doubts about my abilities.)
Back to Norvell. What if he lost the Cotton Bowl. He is not much of a bowl winner.
He runs the risk of losing tons of respect before he even starts coaching FSU.
LOL! Love your perspective on the analogy!
