I agree, except I thought Blackwell did great until it was evident to the players it didn’t matter how well they played, we’d still lose. I would like to keep him.

Zohn Burden showed no loyalty. Don't want anyone who doesn't want to be here.

Wait...he would have to accept the job wouldn't he? In that case, wouldn't he want to be here?

If you talking about leaving for VT, which you are. Its ridiculous to hold it against a guy that took a much higher paying position at a P5.

A person looking out for himself and his family in seeking a better paying position, and a chance to grow his stature within his profession is not akin to being disloyal to ones employer. The recruiting acumen ZB possesses would make it very foolish for ODU to not offer him the OC or at least Recruiting Coordinator position.

Well then, Burden will be looking out for himself again if ODU rehires him. How long would he last this time? ODU would be wasting its' time with him.

Your "loyalty above common sense and welfare of career and family" philosophy sounds eerily like the cult-like attitudes of some JMU fans 05-stirthepot

In a normal workplace, sure, you can move from job to job in an instant and the company you worked for wouldn't skip a beat.

In athletics, talent is very limited and ODU could not replace his talent. Burden cost us the possibilty of landing better recruits. ODU in a sense suffered damage by his decision and now you want to help him out because he has to feed his family?

He can find another P5 to go work for.

Unless someone leaves and steals company IP or badmouths the firm then a lot of industries are pretty small like that. I know in my field we all know each other for the most part or know the comings and goings of people.

I'd keep David Blackwell and cut Stinespring.

So the team that signs him to a 1 year contract should be upset when he doesn't stay forever?

For his staffing - The most important thing for this Penn State Assistant, now ODU HC to do is - - - check this MB and make sure he does what the real knowledge experts on here tell him to do. He certainly does not want to incur the wrath of the ODU MB for his doom will be certain.

So you want to continue to suffer damage by not bringing him back and letting him go somewhere else? Nah. I’m not sure about OC but you’ve got to try to get him on staff.

We don't really want ZB to go somewhere else and have to recruit against. He's going to end somewhere on the East Coast.

A fan who can't pick one college team to root for questioning someone else's loyalty. Now, that's rich.

When then-Tech coach Frank Beamer called and asked Burden to interview in 2015, "I didn't hesitate for a minute," Burden said. "I've been watching Virginia Tech since I was a kid. I watched Frank Beamer and (defensive coordinator) Bud Foster on the sidelines.

"To stand on the sidelines with them was a dream come true."

If Selig hires him again this will be the 3rd time. I'm sure he'll still be job hunting and it won't be long before he "doesn't hesitate for a minute"

Like I said before, he is someone that doesn't want to be here.

Wilder said Burden was like a son to him. Well, Wilder's not papa anymore. Gonna have to convince the new coach you're commited to ODU. Fortunately for him, everyone recruits in the 757 so, he'll be on a P5 staff sooner or later.

Selig shouldn't waste anymore time with him.

I know you won't understand but change is a good thing for most people. We can't all say, "Would you like fries with that" for the rest of our lives.

Here's one take.
@DanielCFB1: Some names to watch for Ricky Rahne's staff at Old Dominion: Zohn Burden, David Corley, Sean Cascarano, Tommy Galt, A.J. Jackson, Will Windham, Trevor Andrews.
