In a vacuum, if it is limited to head splitting hangovers and hiring Hugh Freeze, I would have to agree.

RE: Great Article On Hypothetical 8 Team Playoff
it'll never happen, but each conference needs representation. A token "best of the G5" is just that, a token. While it does give us a better chance of making the "playoffs", it's nothing like the chances that Cinderella's have in college basketball. There needs to be a 12 team playoff, all the conference champions and 2 at-large bids (maybe one given to an independent?).

Then we can complain about seeding, but everyone will go into the season knowing there's a chance. We'll get some crazy upsets like we get in March, and more often than not the team that wins is still the most deserving from the whole season.

I think it should be an 8 team playoff, which includes the Conf Champion of the top 6 conferences. That leaves 2 wildcards for non-conf champions.

Or, use one of the two at-larges for the top G4/Notre Dame, but only if they are ranked top 15 or so. Otherwise it remains an at-large.

That would allow everybody, without simply handing out an autobid to a crappy top G4 contender.

Take all 10 conference champs and 6 at large bids and have a real playoff.

Can you imagine if the basketball tourney only took 4 teams from the major conferences?
