Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams stink.

I've been saying it for years-UNCW should be in the SoCon. It is just a better fit and as far as competition goes it would be spot on. There are a lot of old timers who are in love with the CAA but its not close to being what it was on many levels and its time to leave.

I'm willing to bet nearly everyone would be okay with leaving the CAA at this point. You're right, it's a far cry from what it used to be.

It's a combo of both, A, CAA isn't what it used to be, and B, SoCon has gotten better

SoCon is a little better I think but the CAA has gone down year by year with the Virginia schools leaving one after another. Richmond,ODU,VCU and George Mason were at the top of the CAA at one time or another . The CAA is just another mid major now and for UNCW it has become obsolete.

The SoCon wouldn’t want us because we don’t have football. Their post realignment moves have been football based. UNCG is their only non football member.

No football, no SoCon, period. What difference does it make what conference we're in, if we can't right our own ship. As it stands right now, changing conferences is just an ECU type move for basketball.

Speaking of SoCon teams. Watching WCU play Xavier and they look so much more athletic, lengthy and skilled than we do. Play with confidence and energy. Very impressed. Jealous.

Coached by the son of the Wake great Skip Prosser. Wouldn’t expect anything less.

UNCG with a very nice win against a strong Vermont team. The Selection Committee needs to step up and make the SoCon a multi-bid league this season. Should've happened last year.

SoCon might get multiple bids this year and going forward they are positioned to stay in that spot. Not long ago the talk was UNCG to the CAA and all most nobody on this board was in favor of that. Funny how that works with schools who mare committed to getting better and stay the course. I do think the SoCon/UNVW would be a great fit and I think they would jump on UNCW in a second. I don't think Bass has the foresight to make a move. I see Bass as more of a problem than CB and I would be favor of letting him go right now.

Curious what leads you to that thinking, honestly.

1. He's been one of the most successful AD's in our history if you add up all of the different conference championships across all sports at UNCW.

2. And most relevant to this topic, he also hired Kevin Keatts who gave us 3 amazing years of UNCW basketball prior to leaving for more money elsewhere.

So... yes, the CB hire appears to be a bad mark on the record for Bass, but I'm willing to give him another hire and see what he can do with "best out of three" mentality. What sir, leads you to believe he should be canned?

Not a Bass issue, but my biggest concern for basketball is that Keatts has been our only succesful coach since Brownell. Unless we have some sort of divine intervention, will be have had only 4 winning seasons in our last 14. And I have no reason to believe we will somehow turn it around next year with McGrath at the helm and a roster that will look just like this year if not worse.

If we are going to forego football in order to focus on basketball, that result is not acceptable. There has got to be a lot of investigation and thought put into the ingredients of a succesful mid major basketball program at a school like UNCW. There are no guarantees of succes. But there are probably some examples that can be followed.

We agree 110% here. My issue was with Mullet essentially stating that Bass is as bad as McGrath has been. The evidence doesn’t support that theory.

I do agree he flubbed on this one and we need to get this thing fixed, and as you said... we’ve had a few formulas shown to ya on how to do it. We’ve also proven time and again that the UNC tree is NOT the way to do it.
