Mizzou apparently gave him $4 million.

NC State's recruiting suffered when Drinkwitz left.

All coaches are mercenaries, by definition. You cannot really believe anything that they say about a particular job.

You can't blame them, really. Lots of them get fired every year, too.

It is just a job for them. They say the rah rah stuff just to get others fired up.

Yes and he may never get another such chance. He won at App. St. with someone else's players. No proof he can recruit his own. And if it goes down next year (which after 12-1 it almost certainly will), he is a lot less hot.

He spent 3 years at Tulane before getting out of there, following Darrell K. Royal's advice. DKR had come it to help him as a consultant and told him Tulane was a coaching graveyard.

DKR always believed in being at the U. of schools, not State U. or privates. He left Mississippi St. pretty quick for U. of Washington.

Swofford hired Mack from Tulane to coach in Chapel Hill.

But then, they wouldn't have done it the last two years.

More like Drink inherited a new Camero, customized it, and then traded it in for a Ferrari that needs some new tires and a fresh paint job, but he was promised he once he got it going, he could drive it wherever.

In what world is Missouri a Ferrari of programs? The 1973 VW beetle maybe but not a Ferrari.

In what world is App State a Ferrari and Mizzou is a fixer upper? Mizzou just paid Drinkwitz 4 times what he's worth. Sounds very Ferrari to me. In contrast, App is a very nice car, but not an expensive sports car.
