For the last two years you all have been stating you wanted to go to the New Orleans Bowl. You guys embarrassed yourself the most more recently, not by your loss on Saturday, but by your poor attendence to the conference championship game that you won last year against Middle Tennessee. Put your money where your mouth is and attend this bowl. You may lose, but so what. Support your team. It's a four hour drive and you can get a hotel for less than $100. If you don't, next year when bowls are considering teams, they will avoid UAB stating the fans don't travel to even close bowl games. I may even go myself as a casual fan. Bet I can get on stubhub and get prime seats for less than $50.
04-cheers
No doubt.
For weeks, fans here have been saying they want the NO Bowl.

We’re not a great team, over achieved, and got destroyed in the conference championship (when most people predicted we wouldn’t sniff the championship game in a rebuilding year).

If we get stomped, we get stomped.
But most of the past bitching has been about going to bowl games that are tough for fans to make.

If fans get what they wanted all year, then don’t show up bc of yesterday...well...it says what it says

The constant moronathon of garbage like "Let's shut down the program" (because Ehsan lost a game no one expected to win) and "oooh, let's chant 'Fire Ehsan'" (two posts that manage to drop BlazerSax into third place) just makes this place not fun to post in any more. To quote the immortal Pat Sullivan, "How in the hell do you feed and dress yourself each morning?!?"

But for you, favorite student Ice Cold Blazer, I'll craft something later tonight. It's time to wake the dragon.

I was thinking yesterday after the FAU game that the Appy State game would be an opportunity for some type of redemption should we rise to the occasion.

It's strange too because last year they were begging for the game now we are somehow beneath them.

Maybe so with their rankings but the Sun Belt will still be treated like the Sun Belt during the bowl season & CUSA will also be treated like CUSA.

It's been stated many teams. UAB is not beneath us. We just have the worst bowl tie ins of any league. That is the complaint. If UAB went 12-1 and beat 2 P5s you wouldn't be thrilled about playing a 9-4 App state team either. We could have gone 7-5 or 12-1 and we were going to this bowl no matter what. We are very aware of the rising of UAB. It will be a good game.

I've wanted to bowl in N'awlins for years, sure. I didn't want any part of this year's App St. team. Still don't, but that's the matchup.

I think that the team will be highly motivated to make up for crapping the bed in Boca. That won't win the game, making plays will. Both teams get their shot at doing that. I'll be pulling for my Blazers, and win or lose, this has been a far better season that was predicted. We were tapped at 4th in the division and won it. So yeah, we're an underdog. So? That's not new.

We can win this game.

You're full of BS. We had more people at Middle than they did, and they played on their own field.

Seats are $30 at the ticket counter.

I’m taking my 4.

I would love to take the train down. I think it would be an awesome experience with a bunch of Blazer fans. My only concern is if there is a delay, there is a possibility of getting late to the game. A few years ago, my wife and I rode it down to N.O. To take a cruise. Unfortunately, some poor soul in North Carolina got hit and killed by the train. There was a four hour delay as a result. Instead of getting there by 7, we arrived around midnight.

For those that have made the drive there from here how long would it take to get there?

It seems like traveling just to Hattiesburg took 4 hours and that is about 240 miles away.

Yes, I know I could look it up online however I wanted realistic input.

I suspect they rotate home and visitor between the member conferences each year.

If you order from the UAB ticket office I assume they would get you on the correct side.

I've made the drive multiple times in about 4.5 hours.

Driving the speed limit would take 5.5 hrs. Bham is about 232 miles from Hattiesburg and 345 miles from New Orleans depending on what part of the city you live in.

I've gotten to Hattiesburg in 3 hrs 15 mins driving 75 mph and to New Orleans in about 4 hrs 45 mins.

Thanks. I drove back from Hattiesburg a couple of times real late at night.

Doesn't sound like I could do it from New Orleans after a late night game & live to tell about it.

Did this happen to be in 2013? I believe it was December?

I was on a train from Raleigh to Charlotte to see the Panthers - Saints de facto NFCS Championship Game and the train was held up.

Happened to be on the train with a bar so it wasn't an issue for me, personally.

I'd love to take the train down, but my wife is wheelchair bound until she gets her knee replacements done. I have serious doubts about how wheelchair friendly the train is.
