I Still HATE Cincinnati, But...
You have to respect them and their coach. Fickell brought them back up after the disaster with Tuberville and they gave us everything we could handle in both games. More than that, I liked how Fickell was composed and wasn't jumping around like an idiot whenever a call or something didn't go their way. He is the exact opposite of the ferret Cronin.
If we didn't win, I hope they would have gotten the Cotton Bowl bid. Anyone looking at it from the point of view of a 1 loss team versus a 2 loss team is not looking at the big picture. If they would have beaten us on our home field, that should have been more than enough for them to jump 1 spot over the team ahead of them, who hasn't beaten anyone good this season.

As someone who has hated these SOBs forever, I can now say I agree with this. Really, I've started to view us, UC, UCF, and Houston, as kindred spirits. We all deserve a better conference situation, and it's possible all of our chances at success will be connected.

still hate them in hoops, but spot on about Fickell
Plus even though Cincy is bigger, it has an NFL team they have to compete with

I still feel strongly that Memphis, UC and UCF will be together in the Big 12 one day. Maybe twenty years from now, but I think it will happen at some point. Houston might be part of that group as well.[/code]

I like Cincinnati as a conference partner. Having said that, I did not think much of their "fake injury" tactic that they used a lot in this game. Every time the Tigers got on a little roll, down went a Bearcat. The guy in front of us said he had never seen so many cramps from a team in cold weather before, lol. It was a little much.

Totally agree. I could be wrong but I think they are our only continuous conference partner going back to the days of the Metro Conference in the mid 1970’s. They seem to attract good FB coaches who are also poached by P5 schools.

This is payback for the four losses from Nick and the boys all those years ago. Couldn't happen to a better bunch.

Cincy only bough 110 tickets (other than band) for a CHAMPIONSHIP game. In comparison we had 2,00- 2500 or more at UCF twice a hell of a lot longer distance to travel. That is weak on their part.

A football win carries as much weight as 2-3 basketball wins. So these past two wins was like beating them 5 times in one season in basketball. We beat the 4 basketball wins in one season record.

I'm sure they are not excited about making a third straight trip to play in the Liberty Bowl!

I respect them somewhat. their fans are delusional though. they're all super duper, pat on the back until they're not on top of everyone. Then they're evil motherfkrs. I mean snake spittin' motherfkers. It's kind of weird.
