When you need a TD, you ONLY spike the ball when it is IMPOSSIBLE to run 4 full plays in the time available.

40 seconds left is not such a situation.

So will Mike Norvell be coaching Memphis Bowl games? Could be something the committee looks at.

I don't think he will be coaching the bowl game and I don't think it will have any bearing on the committee. Memphis earned this trip to the Cotton Bowl and they will be rewarded with it.

Could Memphis beat Oklahoma?

Possibly maybe

Why is Memphis ranked so low?

Memphis beats Cincinnati again.
Oklahoma beat Baylor again.
App St. beat Louisiana again.
Boise beat Hawaii again.
4-0 so far for the team that won the first game, who should be at a disadvantage.

Ohio St. down early vs. Wisconsin.

I noticed that too. Why spike it with 40 secs left on 1st down, after two big plays to get down the field. Just run another play with the defense on their heels.

Probably going to be paying closer attention to the fact that only one G5 team played and beat a ranked opponent Saturday.

Hawaii and La.-Lafayette are not that far from the top 25 in the polls.Only Boise State won by double digits and they sent a message that they are the better team.

Just how they figured things out. ESPN College Football Final crew said that both Boise State and Memphis are equal on their SoS. Boise State been in the top 25 polls since pre-season and Memphis was not ranked for some weeks now. Boise had a head start. If the polls were like before the 2010 season, Boise State would have been ranked top 10 before they lost to BYU, and it would have been hard for Memhis to leap frog them.
