I actually the Spotsville has been good today. He plays smart and helped EMU settle game down with fewer turnovers. EMU seems content trying to kill the clock the entire second half.
He was dreadful offensively down the stretch, with careless turnovers, dribbles to nowhere, and fear of shooting. Barnes should’ve been in the game.
Luckily, we got away with it and won. Masterclass defensive performance in the 2nd half. They only made three 2-point field goals. Three. The entire game. That has to at least be close to a record. Boubacar and Jalen shut the middle down.
Ty Groce continues to play well. 16 points (7/9 shooting...6/6 on twos) 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Great performance. Should be MAC West player of the week.

We WON!!!!!!! We need to work on rebounding, free throw shooting, and not allowing uncontested 3's! If Detroit doesn't shoot 13-56 today, we lose! I like that's Spottsville is a true PG, he doesn't make foolish decisions like we've seen in the past ala Mangum, and Jackson taking horrible shots 15 times a game! He understands his role...….

I'm almost shocked the line is that close. I would have gone with say 7 (even giving UDM a few point for the home court).
Thought question: Should UDM and UB both get say 3 points home court? UDM is a what 45 minute bus ride to Detroit. UB is what say 6 hours?
In the NBA should the Lakers be only have 3 point home court favorite against a team flying in from the Midwest or East Coast????
I can't resist. #ExpectationsExceeded
We were a 3 1/2 point favorite and won by 4.
Groce dunking at the buzzer to cover the spread is exactly why I don’t gamble. Vegas knows all.

Fun to have this game with us coming out on top.
Can't offer any more than what anyone else has said.
Did anyone listen to Chad and Matt's postgame interview? Wondering what Coach had to say...

Ugly game offensively, for the most part, but can't complain when we go into another local mid major's gym and beat them. Those wins are meaningful.

And 4-1 away from home. It’s hard to ask for a better start.

According to the NCAA’s website, the record for fewest 2-point field goals in a game is two, back in 1968. We missed tying a record by one.

We only had 3 FG in the 2nd half? I didn't realize that! WOW!

No, Detroit only had three 2-point field goals (3/23 for 13%) the entire game. One off of a record. That’s how well we defended.

When Davis isn't hitting, UDM is a bad team.
When they beat UC-I they were hitting the bombs.

Living and dying by the 3, with no inside presence at all, against a 2-3 zone is going to end poorly for an offense way more often than not. I’ll take occasional wide open threes if we are allowing virtually nothing around the basket. A wide open three is still a low percentage shot, as opposed to a wide open layup. Our defense was phenomenal today, and Mike Davis has no effective gameplan.

Sam I think Mike Davis has NO players rather than a lack of a game plan. No size, no speed and today no shooters.
He's got a good gig. UDM pays him well, he hires his son as his assistant and gets to showcase his other son for the NBA. Next year he turns 60 so this probably will be his last job. I don't see him turning around UDM because he doesn't have to.

This team has a chance to be interesting in the MAC. I really like this roster, with the exception of Spotsville.

Spottsville had 7 assists to only 2 turnovers today. Are we being too hard on the kid???

Now the MEGA question (and I don't know the answer):
Did UDM score any points in the paint?
They scored only SIX points which were not either 3-pointers or FTs.

EagleSam, you do a incredible job analyzing E Mich hoops, but Spottsville is a true PG! 7 Assists isn't bad!
