Hilarious. He is going to be well traveled if he makes it through his 5 years of eligibility.

No offense, but i simply do not care. This kid never took a class here, let alone wore the red and black. I only worry about Bearcats.

I’m not sure why so many UC fans seemed to hate on this kid from the get go when he had the misfortune of committing to two local programs in successive years with coaches that bolted for bigger schools. Has probably forced him to scramble to find a good fit.

Yeah, it has always seemed a bit over the top considering this was a 16-17 year old who had the rug pulled out from under him two years in a row.

All that being said, I'm left at a genuine loss for how bad this stuff must be with McCarty at Evansville. Typically T9 investigations lag months to years behind the actual act, and no action is taken until after an investigation is completed and a hearing is convened in order to allow for due process. Firing him this early in the process must mean there were some pretty egregious acts and they're fine with the potential litigation they'll be subjected to.

I really wish the word "hate" would not get thrown around as casually as it does around here. I don't think anyone hates him. It is a topic of interest for a message board, I don't think it would be any different for any other school. He is clearly getting bad advice, but not my problem.

He didn't "have the rug pulled out from under him" at Nebraska. He had a place playing for a good coach at a major program and chose not to stick it out for even one complete season. He's just a kid, but he needed to be told to play his guts out in practice for the rest of the season, then have a sit-down with the coach to see if he figured in future plans.

to "hate" and "hate on" are two different things in my personal dictionary.. Rath isn't saying anyone hates the kid, rather doesn't understand why anyone is ribbing/teasing/mocking/hating on him. Though point remains, not sure why anyone would either "hate" or hate on Samari.. he's had some bad luck/timing with coaches.. like most transfers, wish him well and move on - I'll continue to follow his career.

Evansville is a Catholic school. This gives them more leeway to fire someone than a public school would have.

Actually, Evansville is United Methodist affiliated. But your point is correct. Private schools can conduct much of their business without the public disclosure required at state universities. UC Police for example, are sworn law officers of the state of Ohio.

In the absence of that, much can be swept under the rug. We've seen evidence of that before over on Victory Parkway.

"McCarty was hired by the Purple Aces in 2018 after spending six seasons as an assistant coach in the NBA for the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers. He also spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Louisville under Rick Pitino."

He appears to have had a good mentor on doing bad things....
