Consider these numbers under Norvell for the last two games played:

2018 Lost AAC Chip Game, Lost Birmingham Bowl
2017 Lost @ UCF, Lost Liberty Bowl
2016 Won Houston, Lost Boca Raton Bowl

He's 1-5 overall but O fer the past two seasons. Does it matter? Tune in...

It is not hard for me. Even though I was first a UC Basketball person. I will be watching the Football game. Football has always been my favorite sport. Plus I will just record the other game and watch it later.

This is a no brained guys. UC will get millions in revenue by going to the Cotton Bow, not to mention more from the merchandise sales. The only thing you get over X is bragging rights. At the end of the day all that matters in hoops is what you do in the tournament anyway.

Cincinnati has beaten Xavier 51 times.
Cincinnati has been to 2 Major Bowl games and has won 14 conference championships.

I think you take rare, program defining option everytime. UC probably beats Xavier at home next year but who knows when football gets the opportunity for another championship.

Hmmm....

Endure the s*** talking of the Memphidiots for God-knows-how-long...
Or
Deal with Eggsaver fans.

I'll take beating Memphis and their sweet, sweet tears at being relegated to playing UAB in the Birmingham Bowl.

Not gonna lie. I want to win both and badly. Both would be upset wins.

Have to go with the AAC title game over the Shooutout though if I have to pick one because it's a rings and a title and a possible Cotton Bowl invite.

The Shootout is just bragging rights in the city...

On a related note there is almost no hype about the Shootout any more. Guess there are no villains in Black hats and neither team is highly ranked.

The Shootout has to be played mid season or the game feels like an pre-season game. Nobody but hardcore fans are following college basketball right now.

LoL If you basketball guys really want to get in a better conference, you should be rooting for UC to beat Memphis on Saturday. This is almost equivalent to a football fan asking if they'd; rather beat Miami, or UC to win games in the NCAA tournament.

But Obviously the answer is AAC Championship and securing a Cotton Bowl bid.

This.

RE: Win the American Conference Championship or Crosstown Shootout Saturday?
Sure, we all want both wins. Maybe we don't get either.

But in the big scheme of things I'm in the camp that says an ABC-TV telecast of the CCG, on conference championship Saturday for a bid to the Cotton Bowl, is by far the bigger event for the University of Cincinnati. Without a highly regarded football program, we'll not reach the P5. And UC basketball, playing in the ACC or B12, rides that wave for a big boost in either of those conference scenarios.

Our basketball team is full of promise, but plagued by nagging injuries and learning a new style of play. Not a winning formula in an arena where the fans spew hatred and the home team gets all the calls. How often have we watched a poor 3 point shooting X team put on a clinic from outside the arc? In that case, it's a "quality loss" and UC moves on to some headliner opponents and the conference race.

Did X even make the NCAA Tourney last season? I couldn't begin to guess as I have no interest in their program. Maybe we have a coach in Brannen who will build a team that takes care of business against them and UC re-asserts its historical dominance.

The interesting thing is Jarron and Tre have a chance to be the first guys since I believe the 90s to win 3 games against X.

Still doesn't change that the football is much more relevant.

Rutgers proved you can suck and still get into a bigger conference

That is true - if you are the state university next to the media capital of the world a conference will add you in order to get their network in front of those eyeballs. No matter how bad you suck.
