He really didnt say much, just generic stuff...

Ended with Martin reading a tweet telling him to ask the question and both J and J responded that asking him about the coaching job would be tacky and not something you do in public.

I think Silverfield comes across as very intelligent. Seems like building relationships is something he’s really good at. Talked about staying focused on task at hand and taking care of buisness one day at a time. I hope he’s at least a serious candidate...

I heard part of the interview. Talking up the Memphis Tigers mostly - but as I said I only heard part of the interview. I could see where he would be good on the PR side okay coaching.

After talking about how great his time has been while in Memphis, He did say twice "I hope that we are here many more years". Now I don't know who "WE" is.

I caught that and wondered the same thing.

We're going to have a lot of quality people interested in this job and I hope Silverfield is on the candidate shortlist.

Not having heard the interview, I assume that refers to him and his wife...unless it was specifically regarding the university.

Ive always like him. but after listening to his interview, and spending the last hour researching him, I hope like hell he's on the very short list to replace CMN. Been successful at every stop. something that I thought was interesting. He's the only coach in all of football that was worked with both the NCAA Single Season Rushing Leader and the NFL single Season Rushing Leader.

Right, similar to how Pastner was going with Cal (was already recruiting for him) when he got offered the HC job. It's not go w/Norvell as an asst. vs. stay as a Memphis asst. It's becoming a HC vs. remaining an asst. It all depends on his immediate goals.

I would image that if Silverfield is NOT offered the position he would follow Norvell. If offer HC, I would assume he would stay.

When did it become tacky for "journalists" to ask legit questions to a coach in public?

Isn't that sort of their job description?
