Before, she didn’t. Now, she does.

When it gets to the Senate, that's when it gets real and the Dems can't control the narrative or the hearings.

the best part will be the senate adopting federal court rules (sect. 802, 'no hearsay' will now be in play), calling fact witnesses, subpoenas issued to the dregs, dragging it out so the senators can't leave and hit the campaign trail, and the popcorn sales that will go through the roof....

all we need is 233 "yea" votes.....

Yes, once it gets to the Senate all the nonsense should cease. Pelosi knows this; however, she's already accomplished what she wants. She knows all the haters don't care about the actual facts and will guided by their unwavering TDS no matter what.

But the thing is... she hasn't really accomplished anything. She hasn't swayed independents to the left with this nonsense. If anything, she's helped Trump's 2020 prospects. She had to already know her insane, lunatic side was entrenched in their Trump hatred... she didn't have to orchestrate this elaborate show to entrench them any further.

This is a head scratcher - I don't understand why she's letting it go to a vote.
Only thing I can think of is that she had already let it go to far. The goal isnt impeachment, but to motivate the dem base. I imagine she hoped to win over some independents, but so far that hasn't happened. All she can really hope for now is an unknown crime to come up in the Senate trial.

You have over estimated her followers. They think once the impeachment vote passes Trump will be removed from office. This is especially true for our finest in the universities and recent grads. Pelosi hasn't figured that out yet. During her tenure in Congress her constituents have become more educated but less informed or knowledgeable. They will be pissed when they find out Trump isn't going anywhere.

and they think Hillary gets put in place of him too.
Those people don't think as far in the future as this afternoon, much less far enough in advance to worry about who takes his place. Can't wait for the Youtube videos after the vote asking college students what happens next.

The problem with that is it may be a crime someone on her side committed. The Trump team has been investigated ad nauseum. How funny will it be when the Senate subpoenas Democrats and they don't show up to testify in an Impeachment Trial to convict the President of obstructing Congress by not allowing staffers to testify in front of Congress. You couldn't script a better episode.

Ha! I'm just glad more and more people are wising up the impeachment political charade, especially amongst independents. All the haters were never going to change and Trump's base wasn't going to change either. It's the independents that, as usual, will decide, and the impeachment charade is directly impacting those people's thinking towards Trump. I know it did mine and others I've talked to.

They will have to tell them a story so they can understand what’s going on. I can hear it now. “You know it’s like if you get stopped by the PoPo and they find your stash but when they start to take you to jail they didn’t read you ya rites and dey gotta let yo go.”

I think they will have the votes. Even if by a slim margin.

I think there will be a few R's vote for conviction in the Senate. Romney for sure.

Since November 2016 it was clearly going to come to this, with or without facts.

There were issues raised in the Mueller report which could be impeachable offenses. Mueller pretty much said it was up to congress to make those determinations. Obstruction certainly could be one of them.

Agreed. So far, 2 D’s in the House have said they’re against this. Maybe a handful of others will join them. Amash the only non-Dem. in support. So I expect the articles to pass the House, somewhere between 220-211 and 230-201.

Quote:I think there will be a few R's vote for conviction in the Senate. Romney for sure.
Unless there is some new evidence — some sort of “holy sh¡t” revelation that causes McConnell and the entire GOP leadership to bail out — then I expect that Romney will be the 1 and only GOP Senator to vote for conviction in the Senate. Murkowski and Collins will hold the line and will be joined by a few Red-State Dems. 56-60 votes for acquittal, 40-44 votes for conviction (67 needed to boot Trump out of office).
