90%-media and politicians are the problem
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/poli...282301002/

"More than nine of 10 – about as close to unanimity as a national poll usually reaches – said it’s important for the United States to try to reduce that divisiveness. Figuring out how to have a constructive conversation with folks on the other side would be a good start, most said....

Even so, nearly three in four said they saw more agreement among the American people than the news media and political leaders often portray. Only one in 10 said the problem was that Americans had too many fundamental disagreements and conflicting values. The bigger problem, according to more than four in 10, was that people didn't know how to talk about conflicts in a constructive way....

By 10-1, national political leaders are seen as promoting a mostly destructive discussion and debate...."

90% say reduce the divisiveness... and yet politicians continue to push identity politics HARD.

We need to flush the lot of them and start over.

Problem is, who could we elect that would be any better?

Well, of course, but did they get into what the people thought a less divided country would look like? When most people say they want less division they mean they want more people agreeing with them. When most people say a conversation would help, they mean they rant, you listen and believe whatever they tell you. When people say the media's causing division, the left-minded blame Fox News and Breitbart and the right blames everyone but Fox News. When people say politicians are causing division, they mean either AOC and Pelosi, or Trump and McConnell, again, depending on where they stand.

This poll is honestly meaningless. We are too far gone from one another and it won't get better.

Uh, no. The extreme on each side are a very small, but very vocal, minority that gets a completely disproportionate amout of coverage and exposure by the media. Most folk are rational and understand that they are going to disagree on a bunch of stuff with other folks, but they can still be civil. This poll shows that most people, who aren't brainwashed by what is constantly fed to them, are still civil.
